Default B16A3 valvetrain / head gasket

Pulled the B16 from my newly acquired daily to rebuild for boost. It had 220k smoked like a champ under WOT.

I plan to keep the build as basic or rather OEM as possible. Only shooting for 280-300whp.

Block will be honed, head will be ported, polished, resurfaced, and recieve a multi-angle valve job. Crank will be polished. Entire assembly will be hot tanked.

I've already picked up the following :
Cometic top and bottom end gasket kits
ARP Headstuds
ACL duraglide bearings (std size)
Nippon B16 PR3 pistons and rings (std size)
All new OEM TB, WP, Oil pump etc

I have a few questions though.

The head gasket i ordered is an 82mm head gasket. It's my understanding that the B16 is at 81mm from factory. I will only be honing my block, will it be safe to run this head gasket?

Second, while i have it apart would it be beneficial for me to swap any of the valvetrain out for something from a GSR / Type R?

Ill admit im a d series guy, dont know too much about the b series world

I would swap cams for at least some gsr cams.
And ditch the 82mm gasket and buy a oem 81mm

The 82 wont seal if your bore is 81.

That was my thinking too, but i keep getting mixed answers. My parts distributor / shop out of state told me it would be fine, however all the local shops I've called and the shop that's doing my work is telling me to run OEM or exchange my 82mm cometic for an 81mm

Gsr cams respond better with bost.
Larger lobes also than b16. They're cheap and oem can't go wrong

Are they better then an ITR / CTR? What about springs / retainers?

Anyone have a solid tech article on the subject?

ITR's are the best of the factory. gsr's would be a nice upgrade as you can get a set for about $50 anywhere.

Thanks for the replies but im looking for more then just a simple yes / no answer. Would like to know WHY things are better.

And does anyone have input on the springs / retainers?

Type that ish in google and you'll get your answers in like 2 seconds. Your going to have to read and cross refrence information. Its all out there you wanted opinions ypu got a few its up to you to take the next step.
If you have questions on a diffrent part of your build thrrow it out there.

Appreciate the quick tutorial on how to use the interwebs.

I was hoping someone knew this information off the top of their head or someone that recently came across a tech post that could point me in the right direction.

Anyone else like to weigh in with some solid information? Im trying to learn a few things here without spending days on google sifting through 1000s of similar posts with the only re-occuring answer being "zomg nooob learn to google."

Took me more than 2 seconds since this info isn't for me and had to hand it to you.. didn't take 2 days though.
I would sit you down and read them to you too but I'm in cali.

Gotcha thanks. You pretty much linked me to more un-creditable forum posts. Im looking for something more along the lines of a tech article not a bunch of forum trolls arguing with no solid facts.

Ive found the specs on all the OEM cams, thank you.

Im still wondering about the differences in springs / retainers across the b series platforms.
