over the years i have found that the best way to go turbo is to buy somebodys complete setup used.
Theres alot of people here in the classifieds selling complete turbo systems so you dont have to do a bit of fabrication.
You will end up saving money and time, you just need to save your money well.
Also, i dont think you will get 300whp with a 16g without a ton of boost and hours and hours of tuning, which will cost $$$$$.
edit: Nevermind on the previous comment about getting a GT series, they are quite pricey.

i agree that the 16g isn't a good way to make 300hp, but you dont need to get into the GT ball bearing series turbos to make that kind of power. You can easily hit 300hp w/ a T3/T04E 57trim or something of that approx size...

yeah, but it would probably need over 1 bar to make that, which would require an excellent tune.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
Further more you suggest he buy a GT series turbo when he is on a budget.

Care to explain??

If he wants 300hp why should he buy a turbo that supports 500hp and will obviously be more laggier?

An excellent tune should be a requirement PERIOD for ANY setup.

Or even a 500hp turbo when they are only seeking out 300hp.
It's almost like some of you guys aren't aware of how well the Evo8/9 16g turbo really is. Here is a quick run by. This turbo propelled Curt Browns Evo into the 10's without nitrous. So with that said, this turbo is capable of making well over 400hp with a proper tune. I am lead to believe this turbo would make more efficient power on a B-series engine because of the better head flow characteristics vs. the Evo.

Re: (Puscifer)
dont contradict somebody unless you have data to prove it. show us some 16gs on b16s that made 300whp without spending $500+ on tuning.
a made 276hp on a stock b series with a sc61 running 7psi on a basemap.

Link1, Mid way down, Dude made 295whp 255tq @17psi on a OLD hahn 16g and sohc. The Evo8/9 turbo is more efficient of a turbo then the hahn.
Link2, Mid way down, that guy knows what he's talking about " If you aren't making 300whp on the 16g, its not the turbos fault IMO".
Let me try and explain something to you here...
Garrett T3/t4 50trim flows 48lbs per minute witch supports ~~ 450+whp
Evo3 16g flows about 38-40lbs per minute
The Evo8/9 Turbo is a tad bit better flowing then the Evo3 Turbo.
So you can use that with comparison to the 50trim. The 16g will spool quicker and cost a good bit less $$$.
