Mitsu 16g too big?
Right now i am running a t25 on my dual cam zc. It has stock internals, and i was thinking of trying a 16g on it. Would this be too big to go with? Do you think that i would blow a piston or something because i kind of want to try this. It probably sounds stupid, but i think that i have easy access to a 16g and might be able to try this. Thanks guys,
brian

What are you running for boost? What do you want to run for boost? What size injectors are you using? What intercooler?
At low boost levels (8-10 psi) it's not going to gain you much, if anything.

Re: Mitsu 16g too big? (ZCHF)
A 16g is about the same size as a T3 60 trim. It is a very decent turbo to use with your motor. A shop in PA told me that one of their customers' daily driven d16s was making 235 WHP at 8PSI with the small 16g.
I am building a custom setup with a Forced Performance 18g on a d16z6 (Hondata, pistons, rods, 450 cc injectors) I hope for around 260 WHP at 8-10 psi.
Have fun and good luck!

a 16g is like which t3? what trim?
i want to get a t3 .48 hot .60 cold (im not sure what trim 50 or 60).
would ^^^ this turbo spool by 3500 and make 265 hp at 15 psi on my d16?
when does a 16g spool? and what psi is out of its range?
thanks

The td05h 16G is a very good turbo. There are DSM's running low 12's on them. Yes, AWD does help.
Anyways, Do you have a small or a big 16G? Also is the exhaust housing the 6cm or the 7cm ? A lot depends on your setup, bro. IC piping, IC size, downpipe and exhaust size etc. Also, with increased boost will you really see a difference. Running 8-10 psi on this turbo is not using it to its full potential.
With the right supporting mods, It should be great with a lot more of top end compared to the t28. The t28 spools up a bit quicker than the 16G, so you may see additional lag for about 600-800 more rpms, but up top it should pull harder. The 7cm housing helps promote quicker spoolup. Also, port that dang exhaust housing out as much as possible and it will reduce creep and increase spoolup.
EDIT - you can run 20-22 psi. I ran 22 psi on my small stage 3 16G with no problems at all. It was on a stock-block DSM of course
Hope this helps!

Re: (b18c4door)
16g's are the turbos that shold have come stock in DSM's. They are very good 200-350whp turbos. I really like mine. Actually, it spools too quickly for me, sending the tires into an exercise as to why not to buy a fwd turbo dsm. It's about perfect for a street driven d16. My friends 60 trim T3 (allmost exactly the same flow wise as a 16g) works really good.

Sorry to go off-topic: Actually, the 16G came stock in the JDM Galant VR4 RS and the EVo 1 and EVO2 which shared the same motor. These motors can be had for cheap with the turbos and manifolds attached to them and identified by the yellow-top 525cc injectors.
My 92 talon did not hook up worth a **** either. Them I found the galant vr4, I had one with a small 16G on which - the previous owner ran a 12.9..no bad for a boxy 4 door barndoor of a car!
Also, the evo III 16G is also a variation of this, check forcedperformance.com for info on this.

Yeah, but they weren't DSM's. He said DSM's.
Nice try.
