b16 with ls pistons?? anyone done this?
well i'm building a drag car and i'm on a really tight budget and i have access to honda parts at cost cuz i work for honda. so what i'm thinkin is do a b16 with ls pistons, shotpeened rods with rod bolts and a balanced bottom end (big maybe on that one). c-speedracing tells me that my compression ratio would be around 8.6:1 so i'm thinkin i should be able to run a good amount of boost on race gas (14-16 lbs). keep in mind that this is a gutted drag hatch and it will only see this much boost a couple of times a week during race season. can it be done or will things get all fucked up? i'm new to the FI game and would like opinions but i don't want anyone to tell me to spend more cuz that's not an option. thanks

Not trying to knock you or anything, but if you're on the cheap, why not just throw on a thicker headgasket and be done with it. 8.6:1 is really low. Too low if you're only running 14-16psi.

Unless you enlarge the valve relief's on the LS pistons, the valves will hit the dishes. I went that route the first time. It's seriously not worth the time/money/machine work to put LS pistons in an otherwise stock b16a. 10 pounds at 10:1 is MUCH more fun daily driven than 12-14 at 8.5:1
