Average horsepower for 7-9 psi B18b?
I'm still putting together my custom turbo setup. B18B, PnP head, with 140k on the clock. drag mani, turbonetics t3/t4 .63 A/R, 54 trim. 38 mm tial WG, HKS SSQV BOV, spearco IC, gonna be running uberdata. I'm just wondering what you dyno tuned B18B/LS guy's are putting out? I'm hoping at least 220 WHP for 7-9 PSI?
Let me know what you guys are putting down, thanks in advance.

some people just don't have hp goals, but rather they want something quick and reliable at a conservative PSI with a conservative tune.

I don't really care about the horsepower as much as care about my motor running effieciently and not frying a piston, or throwing a rod and scarring the sleeves. All I asked was how much power were some of the LS guy's making, because all I ever see when I search is about GSR's being boosted, or really high horsepower setups with high boost, compared to my simple daily driven setup.
If anyone has any other numbers, contribute please, thanks.

i know exactly what you mean i was the same way... i feel very comfortable with myset up right now even tho i was alittle dissapointed with my numbers... I expected to make right around 240whp... came out with right under 200.. but all well .. i do compression checks frequently and the motor is in GREAT shape...cant be more satisfied.. But my next motor i build im setting a HP goal for AT LEASST 250.. but i would like to see 275-280 <--Daily driver with conservative tune that is..

On 7 Psi the average Ls will make right at 200 give ot take a few hp, on 9 psi you could see another 20 or so.
I think on the 9 psi you should make your 220 hp goal. I made 271 hp on 14.5 psi on a conservative tune.

You shouldn't be worried with psi. The LS engine starts to get into trouble around 300 whp and over. So if one guy is making 320 whp on 12 psi and another guy is making 275 whp on 14 psi, in theory the guy making 275 whp on 14 psi is safer.
I made 262 whp on 12 psi and 312 whp on 16 psi. This was done on a stock LS engine using hondata. On 7 psi I was making I believe around 205-210 whp. I've never ran the car on 16 psi other than the one dyno pull. You shouldn't have a problem reaching your goals if your motor is in good condition and you have a good turbo. GL

Re: Average horsepower for 7-9 psi B18b? (sneakypete)
So you are saying I could get a manual boost controller, and boost 10 PSI safely, with no problems at all? Mind you I've got 140k on the clock, but I'm not burning any oil. my compression test came back all 175's but #3 had 162, but I believe that is the result of a misshift from 3rd into 2nd a couple times. I think the seals or the valves are a little bent on that cylinder since that's the one I had to readjust every time I mis-shifted(when I was stupid and first started driving). The motor has probably seen 9500 RPM a few times, but its running real strong. I'm swapping over a complete PnP head, so I'll see how the compression test is after that. Let me know what you believe I should do. Thanks.

and how long have you been running on 12 psi, and how many miles, and what's the condition of your motor?

its all about the tune my friend, dont make the mistake of thinking u can throw 10psi at a stock motor and get away with it, theres alot more to it.
I tried the ol' hack with 8psi and fell short big time on fuel up top, my car doenst like the hack for some reason, now i gotta get Uberdata and some better exhaust, just do it right the first time good luck

I've been running 12psi for one year now. I've probably put 3000-4000 miles on the car with the turbo on it. I turboed the motor with 120,000 miles on it. The longevity of the motor also depends on a persons driving habitats and especially tuning. For your setup I would go with uberdata or hondata.
