i've needed my car tuned for quite sometime, therefor i've been doing a lot of research. i'm from illinois and the closest hondata tuner for me is Payn. I looked everywhere on this board, and saw nothing but good things about Tom. From what i've heard/seen he is a great tuner. i don't care for the fact that he uses a mustang dyno, but otherwise . as soon as i get my motor back together, i'm getting hondata from him and will be taking it up there for tuning.

Why don't you like the Mustang dyno? From my understanding, the load bearing Mustang dyno is better for tuning vs. the popular dynojets out there. I thought it better simulates real world conditions?

i guess it might be. its just that a majority of dyno's are dynojets, so when u compare your numbers to someone else, they look low. i just think that since the majority uses the dynojet, thats what everyone basically goes by (almost like a standard)...no what i mean?

exactly, puts a parasitic load on your car to get a good tune. he's tuned my car a few times and several of my friends. very nice guys at Payn Technologies.
heres my car on his AWD dyno

How much does tuning typically cost there?
Say I bought a hondata from Payne, took my car there had them put it in, then tune it, roughly how much would that cost, including the cost of s200b.

Yes, but its an hour of RUNNING/TUNING. if you have to change something, it isnt added onto the clock. I wonder what Toms gonna do w/my Twin H22 Sol? Thatll be something that he wont see every day!

i'm set on the 24th.. got 2 cars to tune... one of the setups been tuned by him once b4, but with a smaller turbo... it may be a bit steep for the peeps who dont have much cash, but its sure worth the piece of mind....

i've seen and heard of too many people blowing up their setups bc they went the the FMU setup and or never got their cars tuned properly.. wat's better to u... $4-500 spent once on tuning, or $2,000(give or take a couple hundred) for a new motor, labor, and all the headaches that come w/ it...?? i prefer the 1st chioce..

roughly 2 hours to tune hondata around 12-14psi. keep in mind that you can't go dyno tune your car from 7psi and go straight to 20psi. you have to take gradual steps up to ensure safe conditions.

Ok, I'm just trying to get an idea for how much I'm going to have to save up for tuning and stuff. It would probably suck to have them get done tuning and end up being 80 bucks short or something.

Please be smart.. Dont drive to Detroit to get a tune.. If anything-- contact Issach from Elite (although he no longer works there) and see if he'll tune you.. If not-- wait until january and you will have 14 people who will want to tune your motor for CHEAP !!! Contact myself or Paul Vang for more details about local tuning..

No one has the right equipment to tune hondata around here. Issac is still waiting for elite to get the s200 with datalogging so we can tune part throttle. I have talked to him. He said he can do it but my car has needed to be tuned for 4 months now. I get 21 mpg and it sucks. I have 250 whp and it feels like 200. I heard payn is really good at this. I just moved from fargo, Drag-On what do you drive? I am sure I have seen you before. Are you going to the tintmasters meet on the 20th? I will be there and you can see my car and see the problems. I can't wait until next year.

That is right, and that is badass. No need to drive around in order to tune partial throttle.
