Default anyone ever heard of doing this to help seat rings???

i was told by importbuilders that you can pour a little oil in the spark plug holes to help the rings seat quicker and better. anyone heard or done this??

The only time I have heard of pouring oil in the cylinder is for diagnostic purpose. Say you do a compression test and realize cylinder #2 is low and all the rest are good. You would pour a capful of oil into #2 and redo the compression test. This will ONLY seal the ring temporarily. You redo the compression test, and if the compression is bumped up, you know your rings are bad and not a headgasket, sleeve ect ect.

After the oil burns out of the cylinder, the rings will go back to the same old compression.

I dont see how it will seat a ring faster when breaking in a motor. Maybe it can...

Same reason most piston manufactures tell you to coat the cylinder walls with non detergent oil or wd40 when assembling the motor.

i had to do this the first time i built my motor due to pistons being too small. i couldn't get my rings to seat at all...it would crank and crank but it couldn't produced enough pressure to seal and start. so i poured in about 1.5 teaspoon of oil in each cylinder and BAM! car started right up although i had the worst piston slap problem...i still ran it like that for about 5 months till i had the $$$ for new larger diameter pistons.
