I went from no intercooler to a small one, and then from a small to a average size one, and both times it slowed down the spool. It's a general rule: The more volume in the IC system, including pipes, the slower the spool.

Well, it was noticable. Probably delayed spool by 500 RPM as opposed to no intercooler at all. This is why I like to stress that the best intercooling system for any car is one that can just barely flow well enough to support the engine.

I only make 8 PSI, and limit my RPM at 7000. Right now I have 2" intercooler pipes, and a MX6 intercooler, which most would say is small. But it works just fine for my level of boost.

I am planning on increasing the boost, and for that I am building a 6.5" by 3" by 24" double-pass intercooler, which in effect makes it a 3.25" by 3" by 48" bar/plate core. I've calculated that to be plenty of flow for the car. Many persons on this site use intercoolers that are absolutely huge. You do not need 800 CFM of flow in a Honda!

Note: I decided to build a double pass intercooler so that I could have what appears to be a *bling* FMIC, when actually I am limiting flow and increasing time in intercooler.

a honda engine will work without 800 flow but its better than 600.
you see im afraid your plan wont work. flow doesnt make the lag but space to fill with pressure is creating the lag and therefore your idea is wrong.
youl probably have less pressure drop with your new setup because the air doesnt expand in the huge ic at once!
and 500rpm from no ic to a big ic isnt to much so i think i will go with the big obx ic. as long as the air cooles down a lot. safety(detonation) first!!!
