Oh boy... With the AEM EMS there really isnt an english way to put it..
VE = Volumetric Effiency
Go to AEM's website and just start reading on there.. If you have any questions just ask me(here and aem site), jdogg(here and aem site), or blkmgk(aem site)..

yeah i figured. i guess ill start playing with the program and see. I know what VE is but the whole idea of building a VE map, etc are like french to me. i've been reading up and i've seen blkmgk's post about boost comp but i guess because i can't really tell what he's refering to (ie like which maps in the program) it's hard for me to grasp... i guess it's not something i can do during times like these when i'm bored at work. I have a friend who learned to tune the aem himself on a turbo ka 240... gonna see if he can guide me thru. like i said, i'm not looking to tune my car from start to finish all by myself but i would like to have some knowledge and be able to get the car driveable and maybe street tuned with a little help. thanks for the info though... appreciate it.

IMO boost comp is great, but it's NOT a replacement for a good cell by cell tune (still using boost comp- you get it 95% right in <5 minutes, extra resolution, and all of the benefits of a cell by cell tune without all of the drawbacks). On many cars, the throttle mods work quite poorly. The S2000 is one of these cars. I'm sure with closed loop enabled, you can get it good enough, but I like things spot on in open loop. To do a hybrid boost comp, don't use a throttle mod and rescale your part throttle. I worked out some great formulas to do that. If you have any questions feel free to ask me for help either on here or the AEM power forums.
FYI- I DO recommend the throttle mod for inexperienced tuners or a quick, dirty tune. I didn't like it on the S2000 for a fine tune.
