i have a metal like sound ticking noise coming from the manifold area whenever i start seeing some boost. i get scared and just let off.

set up
b20b drag manifold
t3 .48/.60 2.5" dp w/stock exhaust
openloop deltagate
450cc w/255 intake

blown headgasket would just be blowing white smoke because of coolant out of ur exhaust. wouldn't really sound like anything.

thanks for the quick reply but i was asking about a blown wastegate gasket not a blown headgasket headgasket.

ahhh I'm blind. A blown wastegate gasket would just sound like an exhaust leak... sometimes exhaust leaks do sound like a ticking noise

sounds like a valve tap.

I thought that a gasket between the manifold and wastegate wasn't necessary, I don't have one and mine seals fine. Pull the wastegate off and inspect the gasket, if you can see black exhaust build up (not sure what else to call it) going from the inside of the gasket ring to the outside then its leaking. If the gasket is clean then its not leaking.

take the cap off of the gate and see if there's a hole in it....

Bump cause im having a similar problem......

Mine kinda sounds like a really bad exhaust leak at a rapid beat
It starts when im first hitting full boost...
so im thinking its the wastegate...
BUT....
Could a bad wastegate cause those symptoms??

Well if its ticking while in boost, it may be pinging. How much timng are you running?
