Default 9psi what timing to run

I am running ls turbo in my crx, stage 2 rev hard with custom piping. I currently have timing set at 9, but herd that might be a little over kill, I just want to be safe I few hp doesnt matter since traction is my main issue. my fuel mods are 12-1 fmu, aem rail, and thats about it, I have a afc but dont know how to tune it. With my stock injectors and fmu what should I run my timing at to be REAL safe. I just dont want to run to much retard to where my egt goes up, but also dont want any detonation since I am always hitting my rev limit do to stock 6800 fuel cut off, thanks.

I have a b16a and I use stock ignition timing 16 degrees. hope it helps. I run 18 psi, at 18 psi I 'm running 18 degrees advanced. Get Hondata.

w/ my LS turbo on FMU set up I ran it to 9psi w/ stock timing. 9.2:1 compression will save ur ***, if i did that in a gsr for as long as i did i would probably have cracked ringlands by now. I was more worried about fuel at 9psi then i was timing though. the fuel pump really was getting maxed out on 9psi, the pressures were way to high i could see it leaning out on my EGT. I wouldnt reccomend doing that. if u want to play it safe run 8psi and run base timing at like 12-14deg. i think 9deg base timing is overkill for a LS on 8-9psi.

I bumped the timing to like 13 degrees, It helped alot on low end, even more traction porblems now, oh well. Direp972 what size downpipe and exhaust are you running. And is anyone using bfg's g force, what mileage are you all geting out of them, thanks.

im running a modified revhard 2.5" downpipe flared to 3" after AC condensor into a 3" thermal. I also ran the BFG g-force radials. I drove on them daily last spring/summer and raced at the track every weekend. basically, after 2k miles I was getting near the tread indicator, 4k miles they were bald but still hooked up great, 6k miles they showed steel belts. if u get these tires heat cycle them for 2-300miles before u ever run at the track, the tires will thank u. they are good though, I pulled off a 13.39 @ 104 w/ them on only a revhard kit @ 8psi.

Damn, 13.3 is quick, I ran a 14.5 stock with the ls, now that I am turbo, I still cant beat my freids t/a that runs a 13.5. I hope it is just traction holding me back, but my down pipe has a nasty ding in it plus my exhuast is greddy 2 1/4 I believe. Direp972 where are you at in dallas, maybe you could help me tune my car, I have a vafc but not sure how to set it, how do you have yours tunned.

It's the traction issue holding you back there. If you went with a large exhaust you'd have a better chance of finding traction, but you still won't have it when you need it the most. Buy or borrow some slicks and you'll find out.

Yeah get a Hondata (like he said)

What do you mean if he goes with a bigger exhaust he will have a better chance of finding traction. Are you tring to say bigger exhuast will make him lose torque, I am not sure what you are getting at.
