Is 85mm bore on b16 block strong enough with boost???
The time has come to resleeve my block. I'm thinking of boring my block out to 85mm equaling 1.8L and using endyne 85mm low comp. pistons. Would the cylinder walls be too thin or will they hold up just fine? or am i just better off going with a b18 block? The only reason i want to stay with a b16 block is becuase of the r/s ratio and it safes me little more money becuase i wouldn't need to buy another block(b18)

Re: (508@18psi)
i would bore a stock sleeve b16 to only 81.5. if you get some aftermarket sleeves installed (Darton, Golden Eagle, Benson, RS) then i would only go to 83mm on it incase you need to hone or bore again. if you dont have the money just try buying a b18c bottom end to get more torque and run your b16 head

If you are going to spend the money on a sleved block, i wouldn't go past 83-84MM. Just in case i puff a piston, or the engine has a problem where you need to bore/hone again.. you dont have to purchase sleeves. Unless the engine is a drag motor or you have a lot of money to spend, i would keep to a slightly smaller bore so you have a saftey margin so you can re-bore if you have to!

Re: (BlueHatch00)
Most of the turbo blocks we sleeve and build are usually 83mm Bore.
IT does leave a good amount of 'meat' on the sleeves just in case you want to bore out later... to 84mm.. to 84.5 and bigger. You are boosting anyways and lets say, 83mm to 84 mm isnt going to make that much difference anywyas. just boost more hehe.
Just my 2 cents.
