Default 60-1

Alright i've been researchin the t60-1 the past few days and i just need a few comments from you guys.
Here's the plan:

stock b18b
t60-1
drag manifold
drag fmic
drag piping
hondata s200
rc550 injectors

Now my question is, will i benifit from having a 60-1 on a stock LS ? I've talked to some people and they've said i would not because of the later spool on the 60-1 i will not see much spooling time and will have to shift soon.
Am i better off with just going with a t3t4 ?

Please help me out, thanks John

first of all how much power you gonna make? built? teh turbo probaly wont be efficient until 12 psi. WIth this turbo your probaly gonna need to rev to 75 or 8. Get the t3 t4 if you going to want only 250 ish.

Yeah, dont go with the 60-1 unless you want lots of lag, even though it will give you great top end.

A 60-1 is just a style of compressor wheel. You can get it in a T3/T4 or a strait T4. For a stock LS you are probably better off w/ a smaller compressor wheel if u want a more broad power curve.

your better off with a t3/t04e 57trim there good up to 400-440whp and will spool much faster then a 60-1

why buy a turbo thats good for 500-600whp and never see that kinda power

some vtec motors can make up for buying over sized turbos because they rev so far and still make a aright power band but if you have a engine thats peaking power at 6500-7000

Whats the point of having a turbo that spools at 5500rpms?

Guys...a T3/60-1 won't spool much differently than a T3/T4 with a similar turbine A/R. Why? Because they have the same exhaust wheel. What almost wholly determines lag? Exhaust wheel size.
A T3/60-1 will spool a couple hundred rpm at most slower than a T3 and offer a bit more on top.
The 60-1 used to be the turbo, now it just doesn't get any love. It doesn't seem to care and still puts out big numbers.

However, in this case, if you only want 300, I'd go small. Real small. Like T3 super 60 or a 50 trim T3/T4.

Ben

^^^ very good info.

i don't plan on just making 300whp, that's just my first goal then after i'm built who knows. but i just wanted to reach the 300 level then see where i go after that. i don't want to jump the gun, make 500whp then kill myself, so i'll make small stepping stones for myself

Bump for you!

Just wanted to add to make sure you put some work into the suspension of the car and chassis, and don't forget the brakes. I couoldn't find any info on other mods on your car. It's no good to be able to hit 75 in 2 secs if you can't slow down just the same. Just some food for thought.

My personal opinion of the 60-1 is thats its just too big for most applications. Sometimes i think its considered more for a bragging right than anything else. I'd much prefer a turbo that gives more of an even power-band than a spike. Goodluck, I'm researching the turbo scene too for my b16a crx.

Cheers.

yes my suspension is sitting stiff right now. GAB springs, gsr front tower bar, suspension techniques front and ( soon to be ) rear sway bars, 15' rotas wrapped in falken ziex 205/50/15's. So suspension is decent for now. A brake up grade will come in the near future.

thank you for the feedback, i am leaning toward just getting a t3t4 to have a nice all around powerback since it is daily driven, but i will see, 60-1 sounds berry berry nice

T3/T4 sounds right and you should be able to pull about 400whp.

since your gonna build your motor just get the 60-1 then. raise your rev etc get that extra power. Im guessing since you ask for our opinions that you already kinda wanted the 60-1. Do what your heart desires.

t3/t4 with a 60-1 wheel... How about that? (2.5 inch inlet on the compressor)
I believe turbonetics calls it the hi-fi.
