550 mile blown built ls back from the dead!
Here's a link to the blown motor thread, grrrrrr

As many of you may have seen a few weeks back we had about 550 miles on my fully built ls turbo motor. Well....to make a long story short we didn't know how to set the ignition timing in the aem and ended up retarding the timing so much it melted the sides of the piston/rings together resulting in loss of compression in cylinder 2(only had 40psi in it) and cylinder 3(had about 110psi). We went to the dyno without every knowing. My setup is good for about 330 and it only made 290 whp on 14psi, well, know we know why. All you guys that have blown built motors how shitty it feels.......Anyways we tore the motor out and tore everything down 2 days later and got new pistons(84.5mm Wiseco's) and new cometic hg. We also put a endyn crankcase vent kit on also. Gator stage 2's also on the way, thanks Stan!! We just got the motor back on Thurday afternoon from the machine shop and we had it fully-built and running in 2 days, not bad for some newbs, lol. Now that we know a little bit about how to use aem system the timing is good and we got about 80 miles on the new motor today. Here's some pics of the build. Thanks to: Accordlove, 2000civicsi, itr206, milanoredlst,b16hybridsol, and everybody at Wiseco for helping me out.
Sorry in advance for size of pics, wanted you guys to see in full detail.

We're going to break in this new motor for about 1k miles and getting it retuned by Tim Switzer. Also, here is a pic of my plug in cylinder #1 after 80 miles of driving today I would like some input...thanks guys!

Plug looks good to me, white/clean on the tip and black on the base.

He had a wideband the 1st time. That wasnt the issue.
Also the plugs are new, They will look like that until they get more miles on them.

Re: (Teglove2)
looking great man. I forget...who sleeved your motor?? Let me know how it turns out when you get it tuned. Hopefully I can make it up there to see it in person soon.
