Default 500hp crank hp turbo reccomendations

Hello i have searched on here for a while now, im from the uk and i have built a rear engined b18c4 turbo ej9 civic, has anyone tried the precision 5554 turbo?

At the moment im running a hx35 and is just too laggy for what i want.. i am only running 400 crank hp which is nothing compared to what all you run haha.

I know the hx35 can run alot more than 400hp so im just wasting it really, the precision is rated to 500hp least i will have a bit of room to grow if i want too.. or anyone else got some recommendations? http://www.precisionturbo.net/turboc...ger---5554/522

The set up im running is
b18c4
81.5mm cp pistons
manley rods
acl bearings
arp head studs
BWR ramhorn
tial 44mm wastegate
hx35 with 12cm housing
id1000s
so just your basic standard sleeve build

Here is the dyno print out if anyone is interested

500HP is GT3076R territory. I would PM "The Shodan" and see what he has for you.

I dont see the need to get rid of the hx35?

Easily over 50lbs/min good for your goal, More reliable than a precision...

Change your hotside to a BEP .55ar or even a 9cm^2 housing, you have the one largest hotside available for the hx35.

Im sure you would like the response of a smaller hotside. Dsm guys are pushing 50lbs/min with the small Bullsey performance hotside (.55ar)

You arent seeing full boost till 5500rpm, possible pre turbine exhaust leak (head to manifold, manifold to turbine housing?) boost leak etc. the 12 cm housing isnt helping matters but that seems slow from the jump. What boost pressure are you running?

If not let me know how much you want for the holset xD

what sort of spool time would i get with the BEP housing? i dont have any exhaust leaks on it at all and the turbo has just been rebuilt with new bushes, seals and exhaust wheel. I am running 15psi boost

I'm curious as to why you are seeing boost come in 1000 rpm's later than me. What cams are you using? I'm on stock Gsr cams, stock bore, using e85

If you're buying the GT3076r, definitely go with the 0.63ar since your reason for upgrading was lag. The 0.82ar will make more top end once you push the turbo harder, but it does add to the lagginess of the turbo

Another turbo to consider would be the Borg Warner S256 / S259.

Opt for the .70ar v-band if you have the $$. I had that turbine housing and it makes install and removal 10x easier than the standard 4 bolt design.

How much for the hx35.

In before it's an install problem (boost leak etc) and the new turbo does the same thing.

Don't blame a particular part until you confirm its operation. In the auto service world that would be throwing parts at a car.

Im not blaming the part, there is no exhaust leaks on the car at all i think the turbo is just too laggy for what i want and im not pushing it to near its full potential so thats why i want a smaller one

500hp (50lbs/min) the hx35 8 blade will flow efficiently up to 52lbs/min

your thought process is slightly concerning. The issue isnt the turbo as a whole. the compressor setup does exactly what you want it to do, The lag is caused by the giant hotside housing. youre a housing away from having your goal.

BEP hotside- $299
Gt3076r- $1300

The success with this turbo is documented time and time again. which makes me wonder what else could be making it so laggy on your setup.
