.42 Ar GTR turbo on B20v?
I found a used R32 turbo for stupid cheap here in Japan. Im not planning on running a whole lot of boost (8-10 lbs) and I was wondering if this turbo would be worth running on my b20 vtec. I'm not looking for high Hp just a snappy street car/ canyon carver. Redline will be set to 7500+ ish.
-I have a 97 b18cR that im starting to build as a backup if for some unfortunate reason it decides to grenade on me. From what I read the B18c will out rev the .42 AR so thats a no go. Looking for about 230-275 hp.
Supporting mods:
B16 trans w/diff
Stock bottom end B20b with ARP rod bolts.
Gsr head
Crowder valves, springs, retainers.
Sk2 im
Wally 225 fp
Blox 68mm TB
I have gsr/itr/ jun 2 cams (prob run the gsr's and play it safe)
AEM EMS
Evo IV 560cc injectors (need to install)
Bdl fuel rail
Apexi N1 exhaust (may change to rsr concept cuz it's quieter)
Need:
Fmic and pipes (egay)
Down pipe
Mani (prob run a log one)
Thanks for kicking some wisdom my way

A turbo from an RB20/25 would work better than the RB26 turbo. With the current cost of journal bearing turbos being so cheap, your best bet is to purchase a properly sized turbo instead wasting your time with the OEM RB26 snail.

The 26 turbo is just a small t28 and given they have ceramic turbine wheels you can't run much more than 14psi before they start to break

Re: .42 Ar GTR turbo on B20v?
I ran a Series 2 RB25 turbo on my H22. Such a fun car! Instant response at any rpm. Faster than a cammed/tuned Evo 9 from a roll in a heavy Prelude
bone stock H22A4
DRAG log manifold w/ 38mm external gate (internal flapper held closed)
2.5" turbo-back exhaust
440cc injectors @ 47psi (static pressure)
This is on only 9.1 psi (measured at intake manifold). Different lines are with a 2.5" cutout open vs closed
I would seriously recommend an RB25 turbo for a B20. An RB20 or 26 turbo would be too small IMO

Tdo5 (assuming 16g) or tdo6's are pretty pricey even used. Looking for More of a CHEAP and fun thing and possibly upgrading later. Also trying to stay off of EGAY as much as possible. Nissan turbines are everywhere here so if I can scoop a 25 turbo I may just do that, if not I may just have to suck it up and save $600/700 for a new precision turbo. Thanks!

I paid 125 for an evo 8 big 16g.
16g's are dirt cheap, now if you get into Greddy/trust 18g/20gs then it gets expensive

Owen - go down to Up Garage near the Gushikawa Jusco. They always have turbos on the shelf. In the old days I grabbed quite a few good turbos off of Yahoo Auction JP. I still have a T300S(HKS T04S/T3) sitting in my spare parts bin as a backup. I will not recommend Okinawa Parts because they are always overpriced by about 275% when it comes down to dealing with us evil invaders!
Last month Up Garage had a Mitsu T67/25G that only lasted a couple days. ~$450 at the current(horrible) yen rate.

Re: .42 Ar GTR turbo on B20v?
Well went to up garage and scooped a Knightsports t04e for just over a bill... Pretty sure it's the rf320. Ill see if that will do the trick. I may have to get a FD/FC flange and weld it to a b series mani if it dosent bolt right up. also ill run the fd/fc o2 housing and get a DP fitted up but hey... It's cheap. Thanks again

Yeah I had a vfac then went to a arm EMS so its worthless to me. Somone will want it. Prob do a FS thread when I get back next year and hawk off some of my less desirable junk I.e jdm Teg front/ sir-g lights/ sprint harts ect ect to start another build and keep the cost down. Don't wanna mess with shipping through the usmc USPS.

Well lmk what you need and ill keep my eyes open. If its at upgrage in Oki it's all good; if you have to ship it from mainland it starts to get pricey fast.
Hit me up on facebook. Owen Humphress-check it more regular and I can post pics from the iPhone of all the junk there.
