im wanting to build a b20v turbo and i do not know alot about building a motor.
What would you recommend to have this motor to be a good DD on 5psi
turbo setup to transmission

Stock internals will be fine for 5psi. But if your new to building motors im not sure if you want to do a b20v as your first turbo project. Plus 5psi wouldnt be much fun at all, 9 would be better for a dd and you can still use stock internals. But b20v's are already at risk of bottom end problems at high rpms so adding boost and running them to 8 grand probably wont go over to well. You would be better off doing an ls turbo it would be cheaper easier and it would last longer.

why does everyone think psi matters? x psi on a 16g is not the same as the same psi with a 42r. Think up a whp goal and that will be eaiser to answer.

But as Dioxine said there are issues with the b20 when you strat to rev them high. I have heard of several that spin bearings and even more that crack sleeves. Do a lsv turbo and call it a day

i have a gsr in my car right now, i need to rebuild that and i might stick with the gsr and turbo it. the gsr is burning oil right now so i would like to do a rebuild on it. and i can not seem to figure out why my rpms are so high when im driving on the highway. im at 60 and its at 3k

The RPMs will be directly related to the gearing in your transmission. And you cant think of what internals can handle using PSI. You need to pick a power goal, and then base your set up around that. Stock rods and pistons seem to hold up to around 300hp, some people run it at that power for years, and others pop the motor first time out. Since you dont seem like your looking for a ridiculous amount of HP, I would go with an aftermarket rods/piston setup and have your block rebuilt with new bearings and rings.

Well what transmission is attached to it.... Sounds right around where an S80 Gs-R should be. B16 transmissions would be in the lower 3's at that speed.

yea i want to get a b16 transmission. i have a gsr right now, about to swap out the intake manifold and replace it with a skunk2 intake manifold, and try and get a b16 LSD transmission

KEEP THE GSR!!! All you need to do is pistons and rods and the motor will handle around 500whp with a good tune. That would be your best bet. No external oil line to worry about like with the lsvtec or b20vtec. The GSR also has a girdle from the factory and has oil squirters. What else is there to want. Look at mi sig.

And 3k isnt bad in a gsr at 60.

just run stock rods and pistons in the gsr... 300 is a cake walk

yea my dude b20vtec. I'm just sticking with the GSR tho, its burning a lot of oil right now, any recommendations on what is needed for the rebuild?

Oem rings, valve seals, head gasket, plasti gauge, and tons of oem gaskets.. if you do acl bearings more then not your going to have to get the crank micro poished

i basically want my whole motor new again, ill just buy a whole oem gasket kit and redo everything get my head port n polished etc etc

if you're going to rebuild the motor, don't bother putting oem pistons and rods back in. i would skip the port in polish in favor of said pistons and rods.

yea i wouldn't put oem pistons and rods thats a waste of time, i have the whole build i want saved on my computer, the saving begins.
