Default 300whp not cracking it...shooting for 400whp (minimal expenses)

Hey guys, just wanted some help and some ideas for hitting the 400whp mark or somewhere close to it. Im running a b16 w/ JE 9.0:1 Pistons and Eagle H-beam rods, precision sc50 turbo, .63 A/R, 76-trim. At 13.7lbs of boost, i hit 309.9whp, but i had a little bit of spark blowout right when it was hitting v-tec. So im upgrading the ignition coil to compensate for that. But im really trying to hit around 400whp soon, with minimal expenses. I think after the upgraded ignition coil, i will get it tuned for 17lbs, maybe putting it somewhere close to 400whp? but will 17lbs be safe on stock sleeves, crank and heads??? advice/help please.

Yes, but I don't think 17 PSI will get you 400 WHP with an SC50...

Its probably gonna take at least 20 psi to hit 400whp on that turbo. As long as your on race gas stock sleeves shoule be fine on 400. I would keep it under 450 with stock sleeves though.

First off I would get a bigger turbo that is going to be more efficient at those power levels. The SC50 is small compared to the other offerings that precision has. That would be my main thing. Just swap out the turbo and get it retuned for higher boost.

On my b16 I hit 404 on 17 psi. I was running a t3/t67 stg. 3 wheel .63 A/R

At 17 psi with a good tune I believe that you will be safe, but personally I wouldn't go much more over that.

You need a bigger turbo.

TurboChrgd_Civic - ive seen youre setup before, thats really impressive. My problem is how much lag i have from this turbo, its not fully spooled till about 5,500rpms, and if i have a bigger turbo im afraid that the lag will be even more...

What Precision turbo (w. trim and a/r ratio) would you guys recommend to be efficient at 17lbs of boost without suffering from too much lag?? thanks.

i just picked up a nology ignition coil and cap, then hopefully ill have a set of GSR cams in by next week, then ill get it tuned @ 17lbs and see how things turn out, ill keep everyone updated, thanks.

Your correct on the full boost. Mine begins boosting around 5k, and hit's full boost about 7k. Unless you go with a ball bearing turbo your not going to get the quick spool you desire. Smaller non-ball bearing turbos will get you a quicker spool, but then you'll have to boost a lot to hit the 400hp that your looking for.

An SC50 can do 400whp, but it's going to be between 25 and 30psi to do it.

Get a t3/67 with a P trim wheel and it will spool very fast and get you the results you want.

If by "very fast" you mean 6000+ RPM's, then I guess so......
