2nd gen dsm boost controller?
Does anyone know if the 2nd gen eclipse turbo's (specifically '97) have an electronic boost controller stock? I was just wonder because I recently had a turbo xs manual boost controller installed and the boost continues to taper off and sort of lag. Anyway any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

ahh wella boost selenoid is pretty much a boost controller that cant be adjusted... forgot the "official" name..
well isnt it electronic by the fact that it plugs into the wiring harness and the selenoid is controlled that way..... i could be wrong (and porbably am. )

Thanks for the help and info. The reason I was inquiring was to see if it was possible to remove this boost solenoid, therefore eliminating boost taper. It seems as if this solenoid is restricting the boost. Any ideas? And yeah its a dsm (obviously from first post).

I dont know the details, but from reading DSM boards i can tell you that yes, it does have a boost "limiter" solenoid. I would search a few dsm boards, its a common mod to disable this, from what i understand.

The boost control solenoid can be removed...in fact, I removed it and put my Joe P MBC in it's place (gen 1 but it's the same)

Any idea where it is or what it looks like? The stupid thing makes the boost needle jump around and the car jerk like I'm shifting every two seconds.

hmm.. maybe you can help us with this one.. we put the green turbo on my buddy's 97 gst, and we tried like hell to crank up the boost.. measured it at the compressor housing and mani.. no matter what it would not boost past 15 psi.. (16 psi at compressor housing) even disconnecting the vacuum line from the wastegate! We figured must be a faulty wastegate flapper or something (it's internally gated). any other ideas?

DSM634...you should really check out machv.com, dsmtalk.com, dsntuners.com. You will get more answers there. As for you question, There should be a vacuum line on your conpressor, folow that line to the bcs (boost control solenoid. It's right under you MAS sensor (where your intake filter is). It's black and has 2 hoses with a plug. It's easy.
