Default 250 whp D16 - What internals? Need forged pistons?

I'm trying to plan out a budget SOHC turbo setup. My ultimate goal is 250 hp to the wheels.. I'm just wondering what internals I'd need. Could I get by with stock pistons and forged rods? Usually the one weak point that's mentioned on D's is the weakness of the rods...

What are the cheapest "good" internals? Like I said, I'm on a budget.. I think I have a good idea of the actual turbo kit itself, it's just the engine I'm unsure about.

leave the stock pistons in, they will easily hold with a decent tune

just run stock internals if you plan on just going 250 wheel, anymore than id recommend a little upgrade here and there like arp headstuds

stock internals with a good tune, if you want to go small upgrades do ARP headstuds and honda z6 3 layer headgasket.
250whp is easily done on stock everything

Are you guys on crack? lol... I know the stock motor can take that much power with a good tune, I have had a stock boosted D16 for over 2 years, but getting forged rods and pistons would be the smart thing to do. Just getting rods and leaving the stock pistons in would be retarded in my opinion. I don't even think you can put stock pistons on forged rods can you? For you goals defintely do both, it will give you a little room to grow as well. Eagle rods are like $300, and a good set of pistons will run you about $450. Do it right the first time.

well yeah he can do rods and pistons to be safe but he only wants 250 max, if he has a good tuner than why bother doing all that stuff when he can just run stock internals? doesnt matter how many years you have done your turbo d, look at king kongs signiture, stock d16z6 264 wheel

this web sight makes my head hurt.

why run on the edge, when you can be 400% more reliable for less than 1000 bucks? what if he wants 250 now but 300 later?

beerbongkicksass even suggested spending money this time, that should tell you a lot hahahaha

Why? Because I said so, that's why. This guy wants 250whp, but that will turn into 260, 270, 280, etc... If you have been boosted for a while you should know what I am talking about. This guy is on a budget, which means he doesn't have a lot of money, or he is like me and just doesn't want to spend all his extra money on a car hobby. Running his car to the edge might not be the bestidea. Getting rods/pistons will give him plenty of room to grow and it will be much safer. Those stock D-series rods are tiny as hell and even I would be scared to push my motor that much, especially the way I drive. I am well aware of all the poeple making big numbers on stock D-series motors, ladysman was running 265whp for a couple years long before King Kong, that still means nothing to me. Dude, I am all about saving money and being a cheap ***, but even I know when it's time to fork over some cash. Do it right the first time.

i made 273whp on stock internals and if i could, i'd gladly get pistons/rods.

its better to be safe than sorry... might as well get them now

like BBKA said, 250 will turn into 260, 270, 280, etc.... and knowing you have forged internals will allow you to do so safely...

I agree with BBKA on this one,no point in risking it with stock internals. If your gonna do it,do it right the first time .I can also gurantee you that 250whp is going to turn into 300whp before you know it,once the boost bug hits you it's all ova
