1jz flywheel
Im posting here because this is still the best place for questions anyway Im collecting the last few parts for my 1jz swap (swapping into an s14) and Im down to the flywheel. the stocker weighs around 18lbs which is not really heavy, but most people are asking over $200 for used ones, when a new lighter one is around $300 shipped and around 12-13 lbs. any reason to pay the small difference for a lighter one?

yeah, throttle response! do it!

throttle response is good, there are different schools of though on that. i didnt notice any real difference with my stocker to my cm, and them i went to a twin disc anyway so its a moot point.
either way, if you go lighter, MAKE Sure, it is SFI approved. try to stay away from a lightened stock wheel.

now here is my question. if you say stay away from lightened stock flywheels, well isn't the itr flywheel just a stock flywheel lightened by honda for that specific motor? i'm looking at a b16 and a itr flywheel and they look the same but one has the back shaved off...
well, i would hope that honda knew what they were doin when they lightened that wheel. but just a random person putting a wheel in a lathe, and spinning off half of it, i wouldnt trust my legs to it.
what ever way you choose, try to make sure it is SFI Approved.
