14b Turbo for b20vtec?
Hey guys.....yes my post count is low, yes i'm a noob. I'm planning on turbo-ing my b20vtec, b16 head, b20b block (stock internals) with very low boost. I'm getting a great deal on a 14b turbo in great shape with a manifold. There arent many people who have put these on their B's, seen a lot of Ds though. The general consesnsus seems to be they are @ full spool by 3500ish on a D. How will this work for my b20vtec? in terms of spool time and length of power?

Re: 14b Turbo for b20vtec? (Mr.S8N)
what kind of boost drop off am I looking @? What turbo would be ideal for a b20vtec setup?
I am not looking for huge boost by any means, but full boost by 2kish and moderatly maintained till 8k.

It will probaby feel similar in powerband to a factory turbo vehicle.
Instant boost, very very little lag, lots of low end, little top end. If you like the way a stock WRX drives, then you will probably like it.
But yeah, that things going to choke on the top end. I would sell that 14b and put the $$ towards a larger turbo.

If you want something cheap and readily available just get a T3 S60 with a .63. Should do exactly what you want without completely choking you up top.

A 1g eclipse gst or gsx comes with that turbo stock and with a few bolt-ons most guys hit high 12 seconds with good driving and fyi a eclipse engine is a 2.0L
spool up is fast but dies of in the top end.

yes but those same guys are also running AWD cars that grip the track like a ****! Whole different ballgame their. they will be halfway down the track already by the time their turbo's start to run out of their efficiency range. You should do like Wideopentuning said and look in the marketplace and B/S/T forums for a T3 .63 Super 60. my buddies car was very nice to drive on the street and had excellent response even on the street with minimal lag.
