Default 10's

Hello,

I'm an outsider looking in. I just viewed this clip of a Civic running 10's in the 1/4:

http://members.***.net/26oo/sublime1084.wmv

That's very, very impressive. Why don't the cars on the street I see run like that? All I "see" are the standard; wheels, stickers, loud muffler, big wing, etc.

My questions are: How much HP can the block take? What about the block is weak? Is the stock crank good, or does it need to be replaced? I assume the rods need changed. The pistons most definitely. Aftermarket cams and work the stock head. Turbo and fuel system upgrade.

It seems so simple. Please fill me in.

Thanks

Oh yeah I know that car, Sublime is a shop in Omaha Nebraska and that hatchback seems to get faster every year, I saw it run last year at which it ran 11's if I rememmber correctly...

The last time I saw the car it was actually powered by an LS motor with just a regular old turbo kit and some tuning...

I did see the car a couple of weeks ago in STL for the Nopi race wars where it ran a 10.40 but never looked at the power plant..

Sweet. That car is based here in my hometown. The owner is a nice guy. Every year he does run faster.

Sublime has been putting out some nice cars this year. There are a lot of 11 second Civics and that is one of two - I believe - 10 second Civics. They're always up at Scribner, it seems.
