10 sec NOS setup?...
well nos over rates there hp settings..plus they run you on the really rich side so you don't blow **** up.i'm sorry but if you have a dp kit...you and i both know
what's up on that.i would rather be prepared then not.
the purpose is to change the fuel pressure and to make sure the nitrous system gets constant pressure.you don't have to change jets to make moderate corrections...just up or take down the fuel pressure.

Hmmm lots of replies lately and so little time.
#1 im going to say it again, For the love of god if you are running a baby shot of nitrous let the poor little simple *** system do its job. 200HP is nothing outrageous. As my buddy Charlie (IHRA comp digger champ of 2005) would say, "don't get caught up in tech lock". The translation, don't overcomplicate this very simple setup. If you get a particle in your fuel system that plugs a jet (a .016" particle is HUGE!!!) its your fault. If the system runs lean, its your fault.
Nitrous systems (for the mainstream) are fery simple creatures. They get a bad rap for 2 reasons. #1 idiots who make 1st grade level mistakes. #2 wannabe tuners who think they understand but have no clue.
Nitrous is an extremely complicated subject when you delve into the depths of the research. In fact, much of it is still not completely understood and there is much we have to learn. But to take a basic direct port system, dial it in on the bench for 200HP and have it run awsome all day every day is very very easy.
Harv, I have rarely seen a NOS tune that actually put out the power that it advertised... and even more rarely make more power than advertised. The one application where this does not hold true..... turbo cars.
We all know (or I at least assume we all know) that nitrous creates massive exhaust energy.....and we all know what makes a turbo spin. So follow the math with me... 1+1=2.
The other thing that those haridryers love.... excess fuel in the exhaust (hence why two-step rev limiters work great for spooling the turbo on a manual tranny car). So we know nitrous makes massive exhaust enery, we know that excess fuel helps get her spinnin, we know NOS provides garbage tunes to their customers that are massively fuel rich so...... 1+1+1=that turbo is going to spin its guts out even with the gate open.
Damn I love this thread.

Dean I'm going to give you a call on monday. I spoke with Harv for awhile. I have a few ideas for a nitrous kit for my car and i have a few technical questions for you.

i was just going by what i have delt w/on a track car i use to have.just a simple
ls/vtec w/150 shot.this was on a dyno jet that was at a car show.
the car made like 150hp 138 tq on motor and on the spray it made 316hp
284 tq.
and yes even more on turbo cars.but like you said most companies run there systems pig rich.
H+1+1= h22.........dam i should work for nasa

And harv, if you havnt found a job, you mite as well go apply i mean hey whats it goin to hurt? hahaha Tell em you know NOSoligy

finally found a good dyno from a two stage crvtec we did with hondata and our own n2o control board. custom pistons of our own specs, eagle rods, and STOCK sleeves. car ate hundreds of pounds of juice through about a year or a little more before something choked and burned a piston.

drop in hp at 6800rpm on second stage was wimpy tuning on my behalf... more concerned about keeping it together than making huge numbers

i wish i had a copy of my old dyno sheet.. i'll see if i can go to the dyno and make them print me another copy... its crazy to see the jump from 200 and change all the way up to near 500hp.. looks unreal
Brains? $hit man, i'm just a beginner set upon the path. I have to admit though.... you import boys are rubbing off on me. My ol carbureted mullet machine Camaro is going to debut next year sporting some of those fancy fuel injector things.
D-Tuned, you will probably just get my voicemail on Monday but go ahead and leave a message and i'll hit ya back. Monday is the last day of my little deer hunting trip of the year and my cell will be packed deep away on silent.

Ahh cmon, you guys, dont sell youself short! Ive never met/talked to as much experiancted guys such as yourself concerning nitro. regrading ACTUAL POWER thats been made!
Hell cubish and RMS as well....
Ive learned ALOT just bout reading and rereading through somethings you guys have talked bout and am still learning more, and round here my friends think i know alot haha im like ya no!
Speaking of ?s tho... This is somthing ive been wondering bout since you guys talked bout dry shot vs DP dry......
1) Is there a limit (jet size) on a dry shot, that you would rec. NOT goin above?
2) Dry vs DP for Stock block? Which do you think and why?
3) This is all taking into accont that theres a Blanket, FPR, FPG, Wideband 02, and proper injectors (which may end up dsm 450s
)
Harv. ill PM some ?s... But in the mean time PCR? cubish? RMS?
I only know of a couple ppl running a dry over 100 but dontk now much more then that...
Sorry for the newb ?s...

RMS: U wouldnt happen to have a A/F chart for that dyno would ya??? As well as specs on the 2 stage you used along wit the mods if i may ask???
OR anyone else for that matter on there nitro dynos?

if you think about it.they are not really running a dry set up.yhey are
adding the extra fuel at the injector,so to me that is wet but just set up
differently.if you can feed the fire..you can keep going....considering
the motor has the right parts to stay together.

Teg,
The biggest friend you can have in the nitrous world is your attitude. If you are humble, willing to learn, and have the desire to surpass everyone else... you will. I have come across countless "nitrous experts" online and I have enjoyed schooling each and every one of them. I don't claim to be any kind of expert, I have just been lucky enough to have learned the true "basics" from those who are. The people I have learned from were kind enough to share their information and in that same spirit I try to share all that I know (weather that is a lot or a little LOL).
Anyway, on with the questions.
#1 You really need to define "dry shot". If you are talking about the usual piece of $hit zex (and similar) dry systems on the market I wouldn't exceed 75HP personally. Yes you can run more power, but for me I just wouldn't do it. Hell, I can get you a direct port wet system for almost the same price as one of those tinkertoy Zex systems so you might as well step up.
If you are talking about a "dry" system where the fuel enrichment is added through the fuel injectors... the power levels are virtually limitless (the limit being your tuning ability).
#2 It depends on the power level you want to run and what your future goals are. if you just want a 50HP kick in the ***, a simple dry system is the way to go. If you want 75HP or so (pretty much the smallest tune I offer for a 4-cyl) and you have the aspiration go build a new engine in the future that you want to spray a bit more to... DP is the way to go. Most decent DP systems should be capable of at least 350HP so they should give you some serious room to stretch your legs.
#3 The blanket is of little concern (all of the blankets on the market are pretty much junk anyway). The only concern is constant fuel pressure and constant nitrous pressure. If you are one of the Florida boys racing in 80-100 degree weather.. bottle pressure should not be a problem (FYI a purge system is a key ingredient in keeping your bottle pressure where you want it). if you are like me up in Washington State and are under a foot of snow right now, bottle pressure it a bit more difficult to keep up. Bottle pressure is the key, don't discredit it.
As for the wideband, I think they are a great tool to record a benchmark number with but they are not how you should tune your system out of the gate. Tune your car the proper way... dial the nitrous system in on the bench... tune the engine for max MPH NA at the track. Combine the two and do your final tweaking on the nitrous tune until you find your max MPH. When you find the sweet spot that your engine loves, record that final A/F ratio on your wideband and make note of it. This new AF number is going to be very close to what your engine wants at any power level. Remember: Just because your buddy runs a b16 and it likes 12.6:1 A/F doesn't mean that your b16 is going to like the same number on the bottle.
ESTABLISH YOUR OWN TUNES!!!! That is the key.

thought i would show you guys my new setup. have a local race coming this weekend and im gonna be testing it out with some juice on the car..we'll see how it does
oh yeah and here are a few pics of the 13 to 1 pistons i had in my nitrous motor..i emptied bottles upon bottles on these and just sprayed them with brake cleaner and wiped them down..this is how they look...

they are for sale..
just going to use a single fogger wet.. dont need the manifold looking like a cluster f#@k..already looks crazy with my crooked upper fuel rail...damn welder man!!!! f*%k the expensive fittings..i can just go to home depot and get some brass push on fittings, teflon tape, and some green garden hose..lol
what would you like me to clean up??? there are no wires under the hood. they are all tucked.. the only thing on the fire wall is the map sensor and the fpr.. the brake lines and fuel filter are not there.....

yeh Fred u should be shaving your engine bay and doing a mad cool wire/break line tuck..instead of trying to get the car running for the event this weekend and getting some testing done in the off season..lol
