** The E85 Thread **
I dont think you can get E100 unless you make it yourself or find someone who makes it.. legally they have to put gas in it or else the hillbillys will drink it
...
E98 is probably the closest youll ever get to E100... and you use more like 40-50% more than gas, but spool up is a bit faster than E85 and you can make more power than E85!!and it smells alotttt better than E85

This is awesome. I thought there would be a boat load of mods needed to run E85.
But ? Would running a methanol injection kit be possible w/ e85? would it even benefit as it does w/ regular octane?

I know these are 2JZ's but I don't tune a lot of E85 Honda's
- 1997 Toyota Supra
Engine: Stock, 272 cams
Trans: Toyota BL automatic
Mods: T4 74mm, 900cc injectors, twin TT pumps, AEM EMS Tuned by Alpha, etc.
Notes: 26.5lbs boost pressure, maxxed fuel. The pump gas was street tuned only. No dyno tune. That is why I did one pull with E85 without changing ignition timing

- 1994 Toyota Supra
Engine: Fully built, 280 cams, shimless buckets
Trans: 6 Speed
Mods: T4 76mm, 1200cc injectors, triple Walbro pumps, AEM EMS Tuned by Alpha, Etc.
Notes: 31lbs boost pressure, maxxed fuel

Mobile 1 recommends their 5w-40 Diesel Truck oil for Hondas using E85.
"Question:
Which Motor Oil Is Best for Engines Using E85 Fuel
I am using E85 fuel in a converted Honda engine originally not designed for its use. One of the primary concerns of this is the formic acid created in the event of water contamination of the fuel. I have always used Mobil 1 5W-20, but am wondering if Mobil Clean or Extended Performance would be a better choice for me. What Mobil oil has the greatest amount of acid neutralizers in it?
-- Andrew Champion, Frisco, CO
Answer:
We recommend you use a heavy duty diesel product if you want additional acid neutralizer. We recommend you try Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 as it is based on HD diesel technology, which contains additional over-based detergents for acid neutralization."

This thread can't die

Leaning the Mix, as I understand it. the timing for Methanol needs to be advanced overall compared to Gasoline. But when Alcohols are leaned out, this can slow the flame speed and cause a different problem than detonation, misfire perhaps? Gasoline needs to be advanced for lean burn too but doesn't E85 need to be advanced MORE for Lean burn?
Also from my Ecomodder style reading the combustion temperatures peak between 16-18 GAFR(Gasoline Air:Fuel Ratio) where peak BSFC occurs and then proceeds to drop after the peak even as it passes 20:1 GAFR and enters Diesel Engine territory. Leaning the mix after Max Power Lean depowers the engine but for Cruise when Load low, especially for speeds below 60mph in Top gear, it shouldn't be a problem.
I have no experience in this area so please chime in with your experience.
@ Darkvader0, that's some good info. I've seen the question of compatible motor oil for E85 come up before but never seen a Motor Oil Company's opinion. For a Drag racer that changes oil after passes it's not an issue but for a DD it could become a problem, especially with a $$$ built block.

This post should be a sticky or someone should make a new post with the important key information about running e85 on Honda's. I am waiting for a 255lph fuel pump and a new fuel rail for my brother's stock b20b. We going tune it to run e85 because we live two miles away from chevron that carries e85. We know there isnt a huge gain from it but we are mainly testing the fuel.
If mobile 1 suggests their Diesel HD 5-40, I think shell rottela T6 is another option. How is everyone's engine oil holding up? I remember one mentioning the oil had a smell of ethanol.
I will keep everyone updated.

I was thinking about going e85 as soon as I go boost, have a couple of questions..
Power goal is 300-350whp but somewhat reliable. Are the 450s not enough for my power goal on e85 ? Also what else will I need to use e85, lines, etc ? I will be getting it tunned as soon as I use the e85, using eCtune.
Stock head/block, maybe headstuds and gasket.
Walbro 255 fuel pump, 450 dsm injectors.

You need a ethanol/ e85 safe fuel filter (something with a stainless element would work well), stock lines, larger injectors, walbro 255 will be enough pump, and most everything else should be ok.
When replacing the stock filter with an aftermarket. Make sure any new line you run to it from your hardline or from it to the rail is ethanol/ e85 safe.
No. 450cc dsms will not get you too 300-350whp.

Also, would it be even worth it to go e85 with stock motor ? What I think I know is, e85 will pretty much make the wick longer..correct me if im wrong, not too familiar with ethanol.
I happen to be selling my FIC 1000cc injectors used for just this summer only. They will do 300whp no problem, I have a friend with 950cc FIC that made 518whp on E85 as well.
If you want 300whp on E85, the minimum size I would go with is a 750cc injector. Otherwise go bigger.
Im only selling mine so I can go bigger.
E85 will burn cooler, and allow you to *please correct me if im wrong, run more timing safely on your tune.
That and its about 105-106 octane straight from the pump baby!

i got RC550s and have been running E85 for a while. JRSC JDM GSR... Supercharger is off now and almost have my turbo setup together. Im trying to figure out if i will be able to handle 300-325 whp with these injectors. Single Walboro intake, aftermarket rail, Fuel Lab Mini HP FPR(90-125psi). Thinking that i will have to push the RC550s at 100psi base pressure to reach my goal.

Walbro pumps are terrible at high fuel pressure.
And those injectors might not like 100 psi base pressure.

all motor 142whp with nitrous 215whp
