Default Virgin p06?

I just bought this obd1 ecu from a guy I do business with once in awhile. He pulled it out of a wrecked 94 four dour civic coupe. Barcode is 37820-P06-A52. The thing is that it already has some weird looking 28 pin chip in it already with j1 already jumped as well as a few other resistors.

I was just planning on taking it out since I will be converting/chipping it anyways. Just never seen one like this before.

That's a chip from the factory.

Yes, but be very careful. Whenever I come across these I cringe because it is so easy to damage the tracks on the board when trying to remove the factory chip. The only nice part is that you already have the 74HC373 in place along with the other components so all you have to do is replace the 28 pin chip

Thanks for the reply HA, I did some research on it and verified I could take it out and replace it. I've already converted everything over. Just have to go buy more desoldering braid at Radioshack and tackle it down tomorrow.

Honestly the easiest way to remove these is to cut out the chip itself and remove each leg by itself. It's actually very quick and leaves everything intact.

That is how I was planning on doing. Snip the chip out and just heat up one side of the board and pull out the pin from the other side. Thanks JR
