Overheating Protection Help
I have a quick question, Im running hondata s300, the car runs perfect no serious issues, only problem it's given me is a 'overheating engine' error code, I was wondering what temperature is a b16 considered to be overheating, currently it's set to 204 but it reaches that rather easy while the car is moving & on the freeway as well, it won't get there sitting at idle so I'm guessing hot air is blowing to the motor while I'm moving cuz the topmount manifold, and the intercooler blocking some air to the radiator, now the datalogs show the engine only reaches temps of 206, I checked the help section on sManager and the small screen shots of each section show the overheating temp at 220, would that work for my b16? The needle on the cluster stays below half and never rises past that, coolant doesn't boil overflow is never empty or full car runs great so I'm guessing it's gotta be the ecu setting
I just set it to 220 like sManager shows, is that ok or should I lower it?

Yah set it at 220 and it will give you a check engine light if it gets at that point. 206 is not that hot, at idle sometimes it will get up to 206 or so depending on your cooling system. You can set your fan to kick in earlier so it does not get to that point. If your driving and it gets to 220 or so without getting on it, then you have a cooling issue or tuning issue.
sorry didn't read your full post haha, set your fan to kick in earlier and i would make a radiator shroud for it.

Well I'm running a koyo rad with a oem fan, it has kept it cool but for some reason the overheating protection was set at 204 I'd be driving around town and the cel would come on and the rev limiter would be set to like 3k, but thanks! I'll leave it at 220 I just wanted to confirm that that was a safe temp
at what MPH do you guys have the turn off set at? mine was set at 35mph and i was hitting 220 on the freeway going up big hills. i was wondering if i can bump the speed up so the fan will kick over to help out on the freeway, or will that not help? either way i just installed a new fan shroud and went to a water wetter setup, but curious as to what people set the fan switch off speed at in hondata...
sorry to thread jack a bit, but didn't want to make a new topic.

yeah i changed my max speed to 99mph in fan control. see how that works. i have a large (although inefficient... d'oh) intercooler as well
