Default myth or fact?

is it better to run your heater at all times in your car to keep its temp down? My friend told me about this, i dont have it on i just have it on the heater setting with out opening the vents does this help?

i wouldnt say its BETTER.


but if your car overheats, it could help keep the temps down.

sometimes i do this in my beater cause it will get a little hot after a lot of idling or in drive thrus. im not completely sure if it really does anything but the concept makes sense(and it makes me feel bettter). the heat from your engines coolant is used to heat up the air that comes out of your vents, so in a sense its a second mini radiator. just make sure that you have it set to take in outside air, not recyle it in the car

If your cooling system is working properly, it wont make a diff.

Yes it's a fact, I gives a lot of the built up heat a place to go, besides heating up your engine. It's not going to replace a good radiator/fan, but it can help in some situations.

Till you forget to turn the heat on in a drive through and blow off a hose, then look like an *** with steam and **** going everywhere. I found that out the hard way.

I use the defrost so its not in my face. But yes it is fact.
