Default B16 running cold..

swapped my D for a B16, runs great. but winter brought up a problem.

so my engine temp has been a bit on the low side lately, it would take a few miles to get about 1/4 warm, i wouldnt mind that if it was the only problem, but when i go to turn on the heat to "1" it dips down to the cold line. so i have to keep turning off the heat to let it get back up to average temp...

i live in MI, its cold..but not FREEZING. so im guessing its either thermostat or water temp sensor. would either of those explain the dropping down in engine temp? thermostat stuck open?

ive searched, but nothing close to whats happening to me.
thanks

Are you the same delsol2nr from automotivetech.org? I would suggest it is your thermostat. I had a similar problem like yours, except that I could never get the heater to work and the engine temp was always at cold. I replaced the thermostat and voila...it works perfect now.

do you have your "fresh air/recirculating air" on fresh air???? it ultimately gives you more radiator space and blows the cold air from outside across the heater core... My car runs colder when I do that at night....

did you not enought antifreeze in there. that could be the problem. to much water in cold weather will keep the temp of your engine down

if the light is on... it is recirculating, if the light is off, it is outside/fresh air....

Sup man, it's gold from at.org. The thermostats run anywhere from $30-40 I believe. I got mine a couple years ago, but I remember they weren't that expensive. Mine was oem honda as well, so hit up your dealership and ask em.

More than likely it's a stuck open thermostat. Many motors that sit for a period of time without coolant have this problem. The coolant goes through the motor and radiator and never gets to operating temp.
