Default OBD2 Tuning Options -- Need Some input

First I just want to say that Im sure I could search and find this info but currently the search tool is disabled.

Background-
B18C1 from my 1994 GSR
11.3-5:1 CR
370cc injectors
Skunk2 pro2 cam (Haven't purchased yet)

CAR-
1998 Integra GS

Ok in short I would just like to know what my options are for tuning this engine in the obd2 car. I know that I can just use a jumper cable and run my p72 ecu but it wont pass the NYS inspection. I could also just swap in the OEM OBD2 ecu and the OEM injectors and baby it to inspection, but honestly that is a bunch of extra work and I run the risk of A-Flipping a code on the way
B-Leaning out and detonating
C-Having my hands smell like raw gasoline for days on end

Please help me out here so I can get this project really moving and let me know what my options are at this point.

Thanks HT!!!!!

OBD1 is still the best way to go.

Your only other option to retain the factory ECU w/ OBD2 is to get a piggy back EMS, which is disgusting given your other options.

Thats kind of what I thought. I really dont want to risk a piggy back, but to keep obd2 i think that will be the only way. Ive just heard so many horror stories about the Apexi piggyback units. Any other options? What software should I run on the obd1 ecu?

You won't have any problem converting the car back to OBD2 and passing inspection. It only takes an hour of swapping things over when I do it every year.. this includes 2 o2 sensors, injectors, map sensor, and ecu.

I would definitely check out NepTune. It is a great system and will fit your needs nicely.

i'd definately rock the Neptune RTP system. Its a badass system that comes with incredible tech support and many awesome features. All you need is a chipped obd1 ecu and an ecu conversion harness to run the RTP system. Its very easy to use and comes with a good help file if anything is unclear.

I checked out the Neptune RTP system and it is a little out of the price range that I was hoping for. I would definately seriously consider it if I was building a race and/or turbo engine but this is just going to be a DD with occasional track time. I looked at the Innovative MotorWorks Site along with the J-K Tuning and Evans Tuning site and remembered I do have an UberData chipped p72, but it would have to be reflashed for my NA setup. Would Uberdata work, I remember hearing about some glitches with the software. Or sould I look for a simple Hondata or have it rechipped with chrome?

what I would do is get it tuned by an authorized Neptune dealer, this will save you the $400 of buying the RTP system. If you go with hondata you'll still need to purchase some hardware first before you get tuned.
Crome sucks and uberdata is even worse, so I wouldn't even consider those options. You've got a chipped ecu already, so you're all set up to get tuned by an authorized Neptune dealer, all you do is pay the Neptune license fee and the tuners tuning fee.
If its between uberdata and crome, i'd definately use crome, but its software is glitchy too.

One place I checked on had prices of about 520 for the rtp system. Would that include the hardware and tune? How much, with a tune, should I expect to spend for the RTP. Sorry to sound real cheap but I dont want to blow through my budget, but at the same time I dont want to fun some glitchy electronics.

If you are interested. I think the best bet for you would be the NepTune dealer option.

It is only a $100 license fee plus the tuning fees. Your P72 ecu will work with the NepTune Eprom solution and the RTP system. You don't need another ecu, just the conversion harness and a tune!

Two questions:

1. Are you a NepTune dealer?

2. Did you used to chip a whole bunch of ecu's on HT?

I kinda recognize your name and I think that you chipped both my p72 and a buddys p28 a couple years ago. He had a supercharged d16 and you sent a base map that worked perfectly, and actually is still rocking today. In fact I dont think he ever went and had it tuned. Mine was chipped for a big turbo setup that got put on the back burner to return to school and was eventually parted out. But I kept the ecu and the head I built.

Yes. I am a NepTune dealer. I run www.j-k-tuning.com and I tune out of innovative motorworks.

I do recognize your name and I am pretty sure I did chip your ecu a couple years ago.

If you have any further questions for me just direct them to PM.

There is... but I don't think anyone will pursue using this option until OBD1 ECUs are unattainable.

the only thing i would use if you want to keep the obd2 ecu is AEM FIC. these work really well if you get someone who knows how to properly set them up and tune them
