Crome Tuning and Datalogging
Hi there guys.Since i am new to tuning Honda ECU's i would like to ask you some questions and possibly tips about the configuration i am thinking of.
These is the hardware i am planning to buy for a p28 ecu:
1. Chipping kit from Moates (including eproms)
2. Ostrich 2.0 emulator (Moates)
3. Wideband O2
4. EEPROM Burner: Burn1 or 2( Dont know if needed When using Ostrich)
5. Hulog or Hondalog datalogging cable.
ENGINE IS FACTORY STOCK.1992 CIVIC
Q: I would like to ask how to connect a Wideband(Innovate LC1) O2 to the factory ecu in order to get AFR logs ?I read something about connecting the wb analogue signal wire to the nb signal wire but i cant find the logic in that due to the wb 0-5v 0-rich 5-lean.
Q2:Do i need to combine the chip burner with the Ostrich or i just need one of them.
Q3: What about the Demon rtp 2.Is it a better choice then Ostrich?
I hope have not made a copy an existing thread.
I will be looking forward for your answers.
And because i am sure many would propose me to checkout pgmfi.org i tried to register bud wont get an activation email.
Greetings

There was a thread about this just under this one actually.
Neptune RTP>Ostrich. No burn or hulog needed. Also does datalogging much better.
You hook the Wideband up to an unused sensor usually. Anything that accepts 0-5v. Neptune has it detailed on their website/support forum. The ELD is a popular choice.
Check the FAQs/Stickies at the top of each subforum, very helpful.

Yup, you made an identical thread that was just made a couple days ago... read it for answers:

You only need the chip burner if you plan to remove the emulator otherwise just buy the Ostrich.

So If i have understood you ptoperly, you mean that when i am finished tuning i can't just uplug the ostrich and drive off?
This is correct. The ostrich is basically a chip that has a cord on it that plugs into your PC. That way you can change what the chip says whenever you want. But you can't unplug it from the ECU or you won't have a chip at all. Make sense?

Either way, you are still better off going NepTune - it is only a few dollars more. Read the thread I linked. Add up all the parts... to be able to datalog you need to purchase CROME PRO for $150 and that isn't on your list. The Demon board comes with socket set and license for $399 (on sale during March for $380)... you will have to buy a wideband either way.

Includes RTP, datalogging, chipping kit, a long list of features, easily resold.
Other - $375
Crome Pro- $150 (datalogging)
Ostrich - $170 (RTP)
Hulog - $40 (datalogging)
Chip Kit - $15 (To use any of this)
So for literally $25 you get customer service and a better product. I mean it is HEAPS better. The NepTune demon also fits in the ECU case and has a quick and easily accessed plug. The Ostrich and Hulog are bulky in comparison and it's 2 plugs running to your lap top. HRTuning is also the man. The NepTune forum receives FAST responses from him. I got 2 replies within a couple hours on my thread alone. I'd pay more for NepTune than I did.
PSST - Right now NepTune is on sale for $380 haha... so it is only $5 more.
