Default Breaking up in boost

Still having troubles with a turbo gsr breaking up in boost. I've replaced everything I can think of that would cause this issue. I was wondering if I could email a log and tune to anyone and see if i'm missing something?

Thanks in advance.

replacing everything isnt fixing the car.

power level, heat range or plugs and gap?

Through the process of trying to figure out the problem about everything has been replaced. Tried a complete new distributor. Tried new wires. Normally run two step colder plugs since we were looking to make 400 hp, however, I have tried stock heat range ngks, one step colder, and two steps colder. I have tried both resistor and non resistor plugs. I've tried gapping them anywhere from .028 down to .010 just to see if it would make a difference. None of the above has affected the problem. The car will make 3/4 # of boost and just break up and not make any more boost.

Here is my old thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/breaking-up-boost-2613385/

Checked compression and leak down today which all looked good:

cylinder: 4 3 2 1
compression: 170 160 160 165
leak down: 2% 2% 3% 5%

I've ran into the same problems on several customer's car on the dyno and usually a msd system will cure the problems.

There definitely are cases where the MSD actually makes things worse. Be it mis-installation or an actual bad unit.

I have definitely taken a few off of cars on the dyno and putting a stock dizzy on relieved all ignition break up problems. So it is really hit or miss.

I also had a car come up that had an ignition break up problem at anything more than 8-10 psi. I told the customer to buy a new OEM dizzy from honda. We put it on and the same thing happened.

I just happened to have a used dizzy on the bench and we threw that on after eliminating everything else as a variable. And what do you know.. it got rid of the breakup all together. The brand NEW OEM dizzy wasn't up to the task of a 450+ hp car right out of the box.

So if nothing else fixes the problem try another known good dizzy or try putting an external coil in there to see if that will clear it up.

Guess we will give the msd route a shot and see what happens. I'll probably just pull the coil and 7531 box out my drag car to see if it fixes the problem before buying a msd box.

I'd gap the plugs way down (maybe .020") just to verify that it's a spark issue. I have to gap my plugs at like .024 (on a stock ignition) or else it breaks up.

I see a 75% problem rate with the vehicles I have tuned have problems with MSD coils/ignition boxes etc.

I keep a spare oem distributor around to troubleshoot the issue(s) caused by their MSD systems.

I had a MSD on my car and it broke up as well. then just put a oem dizzy and it worked just fine and made 637whp and did not brake up at all... worth a shot anyways...

Well msd didn't change a thing. We've already tried two other oem honda distributors on it and it has a brand new honda distributor on it now. Tried gaping the plugs down again. Even tried throwing a set of stock heat range plugs in it to see what would happen. Same old problem. Really makes no sense at all to me.
