Compression Test Results on Rebuilt Engine
Hi all,
hoping for a little guidance. I just swapped in a freshly rebuilt B16B into my 97 Civic. I have not started the engine yet. I went and did a compression test and the results are pretty low. Compression test was done with all spark plugs removed, throttle 100% open with the fuel injection system fuse pulled and all injectors disconnected. Valve lashing is to spec (.006 intake .007 exhaust) and the engine was at TDC.
Cylinder 1: 175
Cylinder 2: 175
Cylinder 3: 175
Cylinder 4: 185
Are these numbers ok for an engine that hasn't been started yet? I know the rings will need to seat during break-in, but I want to make sure everything is ok before I start it.

Re: Compression Test Results on Rebuilt Engine
You need to break the engine in and seat the rings before you’re going to get true results.
but yes you have good compression.
do t forget to run a break in oil to ensure the rings seat properly
