i think there are some issues with the street classes since really those were the "big" differences between nhra and nopi...

what about guys like brain ballard with the coblat his car would not be legal in nhra rules, just for example there are some differences...also comp 4 or street stock.....

I dont see pro teams complaining because they have the bank roll to purchase things rather quickly if indeed a rule change happens. What about the person building a car for a class and if something major ( like turbo size) changes . Some people may not be able to drop $x,xxx in a month in order to compete. Its that fear that is driving people to get upset about the rules.

And we can call Glenn all we want , he has clearly said that he will "point" people in the right direction. Obviously this whole matter is above him, So he can point all he wants , if a rule revision happens that comes from higher up NHRA/NOPI after he has already said something- who is that good for ?

What blows about the rules taking this long it that the series starts on the east coast end of March, most tracks around MD dont open until the 1st or 2nd week of March on Sat only so pretty much eastcoast people have 30 days to finish their cars in order to get maybe 2 or 3 track days in to dial in their setups and work the bugs out. Yet everyone is still in limbo about the rules.

Thats because they have money. dispensible money

I am not made of money. The difference between an exhaust and no exhaust is a few hundred, tire limitations are 300, Turbo changes are 1500 (more for people who arent dealers) etv etc, those few things are over 2000$ difference (AT COST!!!)

Im not going out and buying a turbo for this year and then being told days later its not legal, also with that Im not going and spending a day or two designing and buidling a manfold and then being told the turbo is not legal. I feel bad for people who dont make their own stuff and have to buy it.

I have a fuel cell, if they make a specific rule to where it has to be that could be a few hundred in fittings and line. If they decide on tank, thats alot of work since vw's have plastic tanks.

This is horse **** and extremely inconsiderate. For pro teams its fine, but not for other normal people.

I agree with you on most of that but do not on others. Sportsman racers need not worry? Ok because we only have 10,15,20k into our cars instead of 30+ we shouldnt worry?

How about people waiting to see if there is even going to be an all motor sportsman class, if there is going to be a sportsman championship- these are all things that NEED to be worried about. These are things that will effect how people travel, IF people travel. Then you need to worry about taking that time off at work- again something that cant be done over night.

Sportsman guys are worrying just as much sir </TD></TR></TABLE>

Good Point!

Kids??? Pretty sure I'm an adult that has made Almost every West Coast Event in the last 5 years. With all 7 events in my schedule already scheduled this year!

Come on guys, we dont need to be arguing about who has more money to spend and what classes are suffering most. The bottom line is that this is just flat out ridiculous that they havent gotten the rules out yet with the first event not far away.

Ok, my bad Why don't you guys start a different thread then. And start descriding your exact rule concerns. Why YOU can't continue with your winter build or changes. Each one of you state your class and what your concerned with. I think you guys will get so much further than you are here talking the way you are.

Thats actually a pretty damn good idea. . .

Except in my case we have already had 13 or so Comp4 threads in the past months, but for others this may not be a bad idea

Yeah NHRA and NOPI has been going back and forth on rule revision. They didn't really see eye to eye on rules. And those rumors are not rumors they are the truth. And more weight penalty for other things.</TD></TR></TABLE>
See this is what i dont like.Pro teams always seem to know what is going on and the sportsman guys are always being left out.IF the NHRA or NOPI know some rules that are def. they should come on here and post them so maybe some people woud have their questions answered.

Even if the rules arent too much different from last year and most cars wont have to make too much changes. That doesnt mean that its ok,maybe some guys dont like to wait to last minute to have their car finalized.I myself wanted to have my car ready to go atleast a month ahead of time.I didnt want to do anything in the month of March. But now it doesnt look that way

its not that hard to pick a phone up and call Glen @ Nopi or Frank @ Boti. they both answered the questions we had for them, to the best of their knowledge.

Well, here we go. I will try and answer and crush most of the rumors in this thread.

NOPI/NHRA will not be canceling the series this year or for the next 3-4 years.......

Yes we are still signing Sponsors and posting info, so that lets you know we are pushing forward with everything......

I have submitted the rules to NHRA and the final revisions, I can't tell you anymore on the status without looking like a liar or looking stupid.
I don't know when they will be out.
I know when they were supposed to be out........

Like many have said, email me or call me, I will answer what I can for you........
glennw@nopi.com
404-366-4700 x 241

Drift got their rules already because my new judges are on the ball and I am the only who has to approve the rules. On that side of things, I am the committee, not on the committee..........

All Motor
HotRod
Pro FWD
Will all mirror the 07 NHRASC rules with a few slight weight tweaks......Not enough to hold up a build.....

Power Street
Unlimited Street
Pro RWD
Extreme Dragster
Will all mirror the 07 NDRA rules with a few slight tweaks......Not enough to hold up a build.......

Turbostreet
Modified
Will be combination of the 2 rulebooks, with alot of resemblance to the 07 NHRASC rulebook for SFWD and Modified............
