the only thing i can add to this is i am glad i have other fish to fry this year, and the car has to take a back seat, i am still trying to make an end of the year appearance, so i can wait for that, but good lord, this is ragaddamndiculous.

and i think i am starting to agree with the masses, theu either dont care about us, or the season isnt going to happen, and is going to fold.

and there is really no evidence to say otherwise.

this is really sad.

I dont *think* NOPI is folding on us, my only evidence being that they keep adding new sponsors for 08 on their website. Its obvious we are on the back burner with NHRA however.

As a typical college student, I write 12 page papers the night before they are due so I really dont understand what the delay could be on a rulebook when they already have two to go off of.

Start writing all those New sponsors and tell them the series they are sponsoring hasn't even got the rules out for the racers so most of them won't be making events. If the pressure from the racers doesn't get the rules out the pressure from the sponsors will.

NOPI/NDRA should have just kept doing their thing, and told NHRA they dont want to be a part of it........ but i guess you would have alot of upset sfwd contestants. being NOPI/NDRA ruling is a bit differant for the "street style class's" honestly, they could sit down for 8 hours, toss ideas back and fourth, then get it all in writing.... i dont see what the problem is..... bunch of fly by nighters........ its not like this is some backyard operation we are talking about..... these are big business's ...... or at least they would like us to think that...... Their actions speak louder than words !!!!!!!!

..yea, im with Miller on this one. I mean, to just wait till the very last minute to come out with some rules, is just dumb and inconsiderate. So, if they do finally come out with the rules and happen to have some major rule changes, ie; turbo/weight/tire limits, they expect everyone to just jump up and spend alot extra, just to comply? why would you want to go after what they put everyone thru? its almost like a sick joke, but im not laughing.
..So, i say series is cancelled! Run BOTI, where the rules and schedule are already out. and any other local events.
..jus my 2cents

Funny thing is no one from the west coast seams to give a ****... But that's probably because they pretty much already made it a east coast series...

I would be pretty damn heated if I still lived in Cali and was building a SFWD car for 08

I'm pretty positive that the turbo restrictions should be the same as 2007 NHRA.
Don't be surprised if you see a weight minimum of 2450. And weight penalty for a dog box. Hopfully i'm wrong. But we'll see.
You gotta love rumors.

I do not think the series is cancelled this year. That would **** off A LOT of tracks that have a week reserved for this race (Englishtown has two weekends for it) and look forward to this weekend to make a big profit. I surely know the boys at E-town would be HEATED if the series pulled out and left them with two open weeks. Fortunately they could recover and still fill the void, but it would not be pretty.

Also look at how this will effect the series with LOWER car counts and people NOT showing up. You combine series and then all of a sudden jerk around the rules, **** the racers off and make people NOT want to come to your events??? Awesome idea. Seems to me they forgot who the series needs to support them and who the backbone really is (racers!!!)

That's what I did. I didn't build it for any class specifically. It is still street legal so if all the SC series take a dive, I can still have some fun with my car around town.

I don't think it is cancelled for 2008
However I highly doubt Nopi will be back in 2009
They are struggling less then 2 months not just with rules but with "SPONSORS" they are still
working on payouts and a sponser list
This spells trouble, not rules......
For Nopi to continue they are going to have to divorce NHRA for 2009 we can not have this Sh**t again for 2009....If not I forsee Nopi going the way of IDRC
A top notch race series that went south and is on its last breath

Yeah NHRA and NOPI has been going back and forth on rule revision. They didn't really see eye to eye on rules. And those rumors are not rumors they are the truth. And more weight penalty for other things.

What's even more sad is when the Merger of the two series Glenn was on here everyday reassuring us that everything will be ok and trying to get everyone to jump on there bandwagon. Once everyone listened to them and felt all warm and fuzzy they started not caring!

This Thread has been up for two days now and still not a single reply from them, let alone the last few threads. With us being the customer they should be reassuring us everyday of what is going on, and why things are happening the way they are. Cause honestly without us they have no business "at least in drag racing."

They Complain that attendence and Racer turnout is not as good as it should be, well i would think with only 2 months to get a car to spec. would answer a lot of there questions of what they are doing wrong!

I agree that if you build your car to Mostly NHRA specs of last year that you will be close to the rules and ready to race. If NHRA keeps revising the rules to how they want them, i'm sure NOPI is going to have to give in so they can stay on NHRA tracks.

Just my .02

What class is it that everyone is waiting on the rules? If it is sfwd then if you raced last year your car will be legal this year too. I am with AntiLag on this. I feel the only difference will be weights, tire, and turbo limits, everything else will be the same. Those are ALL things that can be fixed in a matter of a couple days. You can get turbos, and tire overnight easy. And just slam some ballast on the nose if you have a penalty. Sounds really easy doesnt it.

We need some rules, if they dont have them all hammered out then just let us know what you have. Glenn has answered all my questions with a yes or no when I have called so some of you should try that.

I agree, I am just curious if they are still having RWD race against the FWD's or splitting them for the sportsmans class?

As for weight and turbo and Tire, I just built my car to the safety of NHRA last year and to the tire/turbo limit of NOPI/BOTI last year.
So i should be good.

I think people in sportsmans classes should not need to worry,
It's the people in Modified, Hot Rod and Pro that are getting upsed cause they have a lot more money and Major changes that may take place.

As for telling everyone to call Glenn and ask him, yes that can be done. But why should 100+ racers have to call to find out what they need to build there car specs to, when he should be telling us?

What is the difference if we call him and ask if something is legal, and him posting the basic rules up and saying they are legal?
If he posts them now and something changes, how is that different than if you call him and he tells you what you need then that gets changed also?
Hope that made sense,

I'm working and typing at the same time!

I agree with you on most of that but do not on others. Sportsman racers need not worry? Ok because we only have 10,15,20k into our cars instead of 30+ we shouldnt worry?

How about people waiting to see if there is even going to be an all motor sportsman class, if there is going to be a sportsman championship- these are all things that NEED to be worried about. These are things that will effect how people travel, IF people travel. Then you need to worry about taking that time off at work- again something that cant be done over night.

Sportsman guys are worrying just as much sir

Actually you don't see any pro teams complaining. Just kids that hope to make it to one event maybe. And I 'm sure if Glenn told you something about a rule you were inquiring its because he knows it hasn't changed. If you called him and said what are the specific rules that are in question he could tell you. That means all the rest are good as they were. This really ins't hard guys
