Icon3 Distributor Mods

I'm posting in here 'cause I have to think the drag racers know more about ignition than anybody else. I'm not drag racing, but I'm not particularly happy with the oem distributor in my '90 integra.

Putting an external coil on is easy enough, but is there anything to replace the ignitor with...externally?
Is a distributor for a 0bd-1 (and conversion harness) better than my obd-0. I may have to replace it due to a couple bad screws, one that I had to drill out....left out for now, on the coil, and the rotor screw on mine is bigger than the one you get in the cap and rotor kit. Eventually I'll need to do better than using old rusty screws, including the one that's bigger holding the rotor. The '90 model has a number of slight differences than the '91-'93.

I know you guys have gone all thru this kind of thing with ignitions, so I thought I'd ask here. I'm not drag racing, but making it more reliable and easier to work on are importance to me. I'm keeping this car. Improving the spark can't hurt either.

Thanks!

....and new distributors do not come with the screws that hold the coil in, so I have to figure out what size and length they are and find them. Acura doesn't carry them either.
