Polish and opti coat. Got it. What's opti coat?

I don't want to spend twice on good supply's so I'm still gonna research all this week before I pull the trigger. My amazon cart is filling up fast.

So far

lexol leather conditioner and cleaner
p21s wheel cleaner
poor boys natty paste wax
3m hi tech yellow wax

It's a semi permanent paint coating. Basically like adding another clear coat to your coat.

I like using the optimum poli-seal. It's cheaper and an all-in-one product that cleans, polishes and seals the paint.

Have you tried opti seal?

I'm trying to decide between Opti-seal, and Hydro2.

How To Remove Swirls, Scratches & Polish Paint with the Porter Cable 7424XP - Chemical Guys - YouTube

Ok so question on polishing I see meguirs compound. Is that the same as a polish? Or a 105 polish? I also see a swirl remover is that just another bottle of polish or an in between a 105 and 205 bottle?

If my paint feels smooth do I just wash and polish or do I need to clay it a little bit or use a wax cleaner? if so which one? I was reading dawn dish soap removes wax but I don't want to use dish soap.

So far im pretty set on a 205 bottle of polish, a porter cable buffer, a white pad ccs ,black pad and its a toss up on natty's paste wax or the griots garage premium wax. The nattys is less but then again you get less.

Right now my steps im thinking of using is wash car, remove wax, polish (205), carnauba wax.

Is there a wax I add before the carnauba?

Any experience with chemical guys products? Over priced? over rated?

Its hard going by reviews on amazon because its hard to judge what is good for other is good enough for you.

Thinking about picking up the sample kit and using thr 36 and 38 and going from there.

Back in 2000 before the chemicals went more eco friendly, our shop prepped (washed) the car, solvent the bottom half for tar, clayed, cut, then polished, edge/crevis clean up then wax.

No wax before carnuba wax. Carnuba is just considered the premium car wax.

As for your products, I can't help you being I've not been around it for 14 years.

Meg's has a TON of different compounds/polishes and it can definitely get confusing.

M105 is quite a bit more aggressive then M205. M105 would be used to remove heavier defects/sanding marks, etc.
M205 is a polish, but it will still remove light defects. Such as compounding swirls, light swirl marks.

I would still clay the car, just to be sure.
I don't use cleaner wax, never have.

I use Griots premium. I've had the same tin for ~2 years and still have half of it left. Use it correctly and it will last you a long time.

Wax is carnuba.

Ok.
Clays my friend was telling me some take off more than others. He said to use a blue clay as its takes less clear off.

So steps are

Clay
205 polish
Sealant
wax

About the compound and swirl removers I was asking about. Is compounding a very abrasive polish? Swirl remover just another name for a polish?

I've never heard of clay bars taking off clear coat, all clay baring does is remove the contaminants from the road.

Compounds are on of the mose abrasive, thats typically for heavy oxidation or heavy scratch repair.

Swirl remover is more abrasive then a polish but not as abrasive as a compound.

Claying does not remove clear. Clay bar removes the bonded contaminants. Clay is clay, so get whatever is cheapest for the most amount.

Compounding is abrasive, how abrasive will depend on the maker, and it's intended use.
It's needs to be more abrasive or it wouldn't be able to remove heavy scratches, or oxidation. Where M205 wont.

The picture I posted above is Meg's M105, Meg's MF cutting pad on GG 6''. Speed 6 heavy pressure.

What about this stuff? It's about $40 a bottle, a bit cheaper than Opti-Coat.

Can you guys take a look at this kit and tell me if the wax is a good brand?

Seems like a good deal but not sure of the product.

NOTE: be sure you only use the size extension cord listed in the instructions. The buffer's cord is only 9 feet long and if you don't get the correct extension cord, you run the risk of burning up the motor.

How do the chemicals that polish know when the chemicals that are cleaning are done & how do the chemicals that seal manage to stand on the sidelines until the last quarter?

Why would the car need any further cleaning after being thoroughly washed and hit with clay?

First things first, STOP USING ARMOR ALL!

Armor All has alcohol in it, which can cause the seats to crack over a period of time. Throw that **** in the trash.

Take a look here, check out reviews.

Take a look at Optimum.
