It's a semi permanent paint coating. Basically like adding another clear coat to your coat.

OK finally made it through the whole thread and really, really feel this should be in the first post. Answered a ton of questions that are scattered in the thread.
This is a great video to watch. Might answer a few questions for you.
How To Remove Swirls, Scratches & Polish Paint with the Porter Cable 7424XP - Chemical Guys - YouTube
Ok so question on polishing I see meguirs compound. Is that the same as a polish? Or a 105 polish? I also see a swirl remover is that just another bottle of polish or an in between a 105 and 205 bottle?
If my paint feels smooth do I just wash and polish or do I need to clay it a little bit or use a wax cleaner? if so which one? I was reading dawn dish soap removes wax but I don't want to use dish soap.
So far im pretty set on a 205 bottle of polish, a porter cable buffer, a white pad ccs ,black pad and its a toss up on natty's paste wax or the griots garage premium wax. The nattys is less but then again you get less.
Right now my steps im thinking of using is wash car, remove wax, polish (205), carnauba wax.
Is there a wax I add before the carnauba?

Back in 2000 before the chemicals went more eco friendly, our shop prepped (washed) the car, solvent the bottom half for tar, clayed, cut, then polished, edge/crevis clean up then wax.
No wax before carnuba wax. Carnuba is just considered the premium car wax.
As for your products, I can't help you being I've not been around it for 14 years.

M105 is quite a bit more aggressive then M205. M105 would be used to remove heavier defects/sanding marks, etc.
M205 is a polish, but it will still remove light defects. Such as compounding swirls, light swirl marks.
I would still clay the car, just to be sure.
I don't use cleaner wax, never have.
I use Griots premium. I've had the same tin for ~2 years and still have half of it left. Use it correctly and it will last you a long time.
Wax is carnuba.
I have this already do I polish then wax with this

If you are going to use sealant, use it first and then wax.

Ok.
Clays my friend was telling me some take off more than others. He said to use a blue clay as its takes less clear off.
So steps are
Clay
205 polish
Sealant
wax
About the compound and swirl removers I was asking about. Is compounding a very abrasive polish? Swirl remover just another name for a polish?

Compounds are on of the mose abrasive, thats typically for heavy oxidation or heavy scratch repair.
Swirl remover is more abrasive then a polish but not as abrasive as a compound.
Ok.

Compounding is abrasive, how abrasive will depend on the maker, and it's intended use.
It's needs to be more abrasive or it wouldn't be able to remove heavy scratches, or oxidation. Where M205 wont.
The picture I posted above is Meg's M105, Meg's MF cutting pad on GG 6''. Speed 6 heavy pressure.
What about this stuff? It's about $40 a bottle, a bit cheaper than Opti-Coat.

Nice.
Ill just get this setup then. I got me and 2 friends going in on it.
I figure ill use it once every 6 months so we can just use it back and forth.

NOTE: be sure you only use the size extension cord listed in the instructions. The buffer's cord is only 9 feet long and if you don't get the correct extension cord, you run the risk of burning up the motor.
Why would the car need any further cleaning after being thoroughly washed and hit with clay?

Armor All has alcohol in it, which can cause the seats to crack over a period of time. Throw that **** in the trash.
