Remote turn on lead?
Ok I have my amp installed but it wont turn on. What wire to I hook the remote turn on lead? I tried hooking it to the wire that controls the Antenna going up and down. Not sure what wire I need to tap into. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Ok so say my deck has an auto turn on lead would the antenna lead stilll work? my problem is I'm trying to figure out why my amp is not turning on.

So I checked it yesterday am I'm not getting power to my amp. I'm running a 8guage wire. Is that thick enough? What else might I need to get it to power up?
So another day goes by and I still have no amp. lol Well I'm getting some progress with the volt meter I purchased yesterday. I found out I'm getting no power. The new amp setup I purchased has a bad 50A fuse in it. hmmm that might be causing the power problems. Well today I'm going to pick up another fuse and I will see where it goes from there. I also picked up another small amp to test out the wireing that way.
Tell me something is it possible that the guage wire I'm using will not power my 800w amp? I think its a 8 guage. I have also heard if I go over 500w I need something to help the power go through the wire. Is this true?

800W you should be running 4 ga.
Simple way to fix your amp turn on problems-
splice wire into red wire on harness, add SPST switch, connect wire to amp turn on, just flip the switch to turn the amp on.

Explain in more detail about this switch. SPST?
I understand what your saying, but I have the auto turn on lead hooked to the antenna wire (blue). What is the Red wire for? Need more explanations.
I understand the idea behind it. hook up a switch so that I can turn on the amp seperately from the deck.

SPST- single pole single throw, just a simple switch that goes on and off. Find it at radio shack.
The red wires supplies the ignition switched 12V to turn the amp on.

Ok so on the deck use the red instead of the blue? Wont both work the same? I always thought since the antenna went up as soon as I turn on the deck it was the on switch for the amp. I guess I can experiment with both and see. But the switch idea is a good idea. I think I might wire one in. Anyone ever seen a switch that sits on the punch outs in the center console? I think there are 4 of them that serve no purpose. I think that would be a great spot for say fog lights and a amp switch.
Why would you want to do this? Just use the power antenna wire. Check with your voltmeter for 12v. If its not there then there is something wrong with your wiring. If it is there and the amp still doesn't work, then there is something wromg with either the deck (rca's) output or the amps(rca) input or the RCAs themselves, or the amp is blown. Come on guys keep it simple you are going to confuse this guy.
Seriously use your voltmeter then ask questions, thats what the voltmeter is for to narrow your search down. As you stated above you measured no voltage, I think it is easy to see if you have no voltage then the amp is not going to work.

I will try to see if the amp powers on first then I will check the turn on leads. I'm sure that the turn on lead is working properly tho because my antenna still goes up and down when I turn the car on. I will find the problem soon and let you guys know. The for sure problem right now is the 50A fuse thats bad. I will have to get a new one before I start working on it today.
