Remote Start / Security
Hi. First time poster. My wife and I moved to Minnesota from Arizona, and after one snow storm, I was informed that I was going to install a remote start into her 2003 Accord LX. So I wanted to run some ideas and questions past some of the users on this board.
I was planning to install a Viper 5901 Starter/Security system with a DBALL or EVO-ALL bypass kit using D2D/Datalink. I figure this will save me from having to wire more than is necessary. I would also like to activate the rear defrost/defogger using the system.
The questions:
1) Does anyone have any recommendations between the DB-ALL or EVO-ALL system? I assume either should work with the Viper. I was unsure whether I have to bring in either to a dealer to have them programmed or not. The DB-ALL is made by Directed (same as the Viper) but I kinda felt the EVO-ALL had clearer installation instructions.
2) Has anyone connected their rear defrost to their remote start system? I assume I will need to connect the 200ma aux/defrost output from the remote start to a relay and tie that in somewhere. I am unsure what wire I should be looking for. How many amps do you suppose the relay should be? I don't imagine the defrost pulls too many. Should the output be pulsed or latched and will the defrost light on the dash show it being on if it was triggered by the remote start? I think that would be optimal if possible.
Sorry for deluging with so many questions on my first post. I just want to make sure I have everything I need before I start.

Use the Fortin EVO-ALL, a very good bypass, we use only Fortin bypass modules, the EVO-ALL is a new bypass from Fortin so no dealer programing is needed although the dealer should make sure the firmware is up to date, once connected you will program your transponder key to it, very easy to do.
Most rear window defog are already relay controlled, in your case the defog relay is controlled, [timer] by the ICU, a pulse is needed to trigger it, sorry I am not sure if the 03 Accord uses a pos.(+) or neg.(-) pulse, either way it is a low current pulse, [less then 250mA] but a relay would be needed if it is a pos.(+) pulse.
Easy enough to check, pull the defog switch and test to see if it is pos.(+) or neg.(-) and supply accordingly. 94

Thank you for replying back.
I looked into it a little more, and I can't use the EVO-ALL. Apparently the the EVO-ALL is not compatible with D2D or DBI. See about 5 items down in link:

As for the defrost, do you recommend tying in right at the defrost switch or is there another location I can find the wire at?

I should be more specific about the EVO-ALL not working, I would have to do a W2W install for it to work.
And from what I have been reading, that is probably best anyway since the D2D/DBI connection seems to not be as reliable as W2W.
For the EVO-ALL, does it just use a USB cable? The DB-ALL and the FLALL both seem to need some sort of converter attached to program them.

The Fortin EVO-ALL can easly be installed without using data link, just some more connections to make between the remote start unit and the EVO-ALL, that is all done on a bench. 94
I have a few questions after I have been going over the wiring diagrams.
Light Flash Isolation Wire - Do i need to use light flash isolation on the Accord?
Dome Light - Do I need to use a relay?
Parking Light - Do I need to use a relay?
2nd Unlock Output - This is for 1 click unlocks driver door, 2 clicks unlocks other doors. I seem to feel that this will be handled by the car since I am running through the data channel.
Ignition 2 - I noticed in Accord ignition wiring diagram that there is a wire labeled this, but I am unsure if I need to connect that to the Viper's "(+) IGNITION 2 / FLEX RELAY OUTPUT".
I have a detailed wiring diagram worked out in Excel if that would help (don't know if I can post it here).
