Need help with Stereo
Need help with my aftermarket stereo, so, the red wire (ignition wire) has no power going to it when i turn on the key. I have also tried monitoring the power when the key turns on and there is also no power, and I have also tried to put my gps charger into the cig lighter, and yet nothing happens. The fuse for the Cig lighter isn't blown, and i have literally tooken out every fuse and none is blown. Any ideas ? Honda civic 2000 ek
May have a break in the wire somewhere. My personal experince is spend a little time trying to see if there is a break in it but if you have a few hours invested and no results, just run a wire to the key cylinder and connect the red wire off your radio to the yellow wire at the ignition.

it should be obvious but are you also hooking up the memory wire? a lot of modern stereos are powered by the memory wire with the red power wire only being a trigger, even if it's not the radio won't power without the memory wire hooked up regardless

Yes the memory is also hooked up. It's been like 3 weeks now I haven't found the problem yet

are you testing for voltage under load or just on an open circuit, digital meters are great, but will show voltage on a circuit that has a bad connection, and can't flow anything but a few miliamps. You need to put a load on the circuit then check voltage. Since the only thing on accessory position is the radio, it's very possible that the key switch contact is bad internally

if it was a bad ignition switch you wouldnt be getting 12v to the ignition and car will not start due to not receiving the signal to the ign wire to turn on fuel. so i think your ignition switch is fine
it could be ur acc 2 wire on that vehicle that could be shorted. i do remote starts and when you dont hook up acc2 the radio does not turn on while car is started just a thought but i would diffently check the ignition switch for 12v in every position

what does the accessory position on the switch have to do with the car not starting? there is more then one circuit in the ignition switch
How to replace the ignition switch or troubleshoot (Honda, Acura)
Check this link out to determine if ur switch is bad. Scroll down to the part where it says how to tell if ign switch is bad
