hey i am in the middle of a gauge install with a defi air/fuel gauge and i was wondering why it calls for a wire to a 12v switched and an ignition wire. there is a red wire and an orange wire. do i need to hook both of these up or can i just hook up the 12v switched power to the radio fuse?
you can hook the 12v up to the radio fuse. you also need the wire to go to an ignition switch, so when you put the key in the ignition the gauges turn on
I use the IGN wire as a trigger for a SPST relay that feeds power to both the red and orange wire when I turn the key to the IGN ON position. That way the IGN wire doesn't have to carry the load of the gauges, just the relay.
I'm not sure if the IGN wire can handle the load from both wires directly from the gauges, but I'm guessing that it can b/c it's a pretty thick wire (looks like 8AWG). Maybe one of the electrical wiring nuts on here would know.

so would it be best to just hook both wires up. can i hook the ignition wire up to the exact same place where i put the turbo timer on the ignition harness?
