Default i need help..

my radio just went out today. and i used a test light to find the 12v source. and the only 12v source that i get is from the memory wire, and its always hot for some reason. its my understanding that the memory wire is only hot with the ignition on. the 12v (red wire) never has a 12v source. any help would be great

The yellow wire constant/memory should always have 12v to it with key on or off.

Red wire is your switch 12v power to it when you turn your key to acc or ignition.

Seems like you may have a blown fuse check fuse box under the dash and in the engine bay.

ditto, the red swtiched 12v power wire has a fuse in the dash fuse panel, should be a 10a fuse.

Start tracing the wire from the battery to the engine bay fuse box to the dash fuse box to the radio itself.

What kind of car is this? You did test the wire when the ignition was on... right?

keep in mind if it comes down to it , you can run your own constant and switched + 12v.

i found the problem. it looks like the radio get a 12v constant from the ciggerette lighter. i traced it there and i looked at the under dash fuse box and realized that the fuse from the ciggertte lighter was missing. so i replaced it and it magically turned on lol. the small things we over look. thanx for the help tho guys
