Default headunit overheating?

I just installed my JVC KD-LH3100 and it gets pretty hot after using it for 1-2 hours. This doesn't happen to my friend's sony even on a 7 hour road trip. Is my headunit overheating and if so how do i fix it?

thanks

Its pretty normal I think. Thats just how most are. Happens to my stock civic radio, happened with my Pioneer and Kenwoods headunits too. No problems with any of them because of it

My stock head unit did the same also. The cd's would come out hot after running it for a while at high(stock) volume.

It may be just how the player runs. But one thing I always check is to make sure if you have an amplifier that it has a good ground. Sometimes the amplifier will try to pull the ground through the RCA cable if it is not grounded properly.

Thats your main problem right there.

Im assuming its a MP3 player by now, and the majority of the cd players with these capabilities often get extremely hot. Hell after all, they do more functions than they used to.

Also depends on volume for extended periods of time, as well.

okay, played around with it some more. it might be because the heatsink sucks, or because it's been under the sun, or a combination of both. I need to drive it around for two hours at night to see if it still get hot. I think it's just cuz it's hot lately cuz the other day i left it parked under the sun for like an hour and when i got back in the car it was hot even though it wasn't on.

hey, one other question. is it bad to take your faceplate off before turning it off? just curious.

thanks
