If it's a sealed box, the heat from the voice coil is dissipated to the environment instead of into the box.

The S15L7 can sound pretty good, [and of coarse SQ in general will be dependent on the whole system] but your looking at a 6 cuft box, although will work in a box as small as 1.5 cuft.
Did you not get the manual with the sub? There may be info in there that can help you make up your mind on what to do... http://www.kicker.com/06/tech-...B.pdf
Because you already have the sub, why not build a box, [use Kickers suggested sealed box volumes] pick a size you can live with, and follow their suggestions on how to build the box, and try it out.
If you don't like it, sell it along with the box and look for something else, it kind of depends on what you like, the way you like your bass to sound is not the way I like bass to sound, who knows, you may like the bass you end up with, a lot.

I guess i have to build my own box, and hope it wont come out crappy. And would a huge magnet on a little sub make it sound better? Cuz i always hear that the most important thing is how big the magnet is. But never quite got a clear answer.

Bump.....</TD></TR></TABLE>In a word NO, it's like that other myth about size, and as with it, "it's not size that matters, it's how you use it" with a speaker it's not how big it is, but how strong it is.

A blown speaker can be "re-coned", what is done is anything that is not metal, [cone, surround, spider and coil former along with the coil and tinsel leads] are removed and replaced with new ones.
Some manufacturers have "re-coning kits" for their speakers, others do not.
