crossover ?
I am not very knowlegable about audio components. Here is a couple of questions i hvae. I have a 94 integra with no tweeters, and i just got some new speakers and tweeters. I believe i have the wires for tweeters already. There is 2 wires that go into a clip that is not plugged into anything, so i am assuming that is it. My first question is do i need crossovers evnthough it is already wired up for tweeters. That is my only question as of now , but im pretty sure ill have more based on the feedback i receive. thanks

I was goin through my owners manual for my jl speakers, and from what i gathered from it i think that it might have "built in" crossovers. sorry if that isnt the right wording. Page 2 on the adobe download manual is what im talkin about. If someone who is familiar with the terminology of car audio and knows what they are talkin about (because i dont) that would be a great help. Also in that pic on page 2 what is that black thing that is connected in between the tweeter and the speaker? is that the crossover? thanks again

The "black thing" is the x-over, you will need to use it.
You do also know that the TR650-CSi is an over-sized 6.5" speaker and is not a direct fit into the stock speaker housings in the doors of your 94 Teg, right?

yea im already not using the speker housings anymore. x-over = crossover right. i just want to make sure, so i dont buy an aftermarket crossover since i think i already have them(black thing). I'm just hoping They just look different than what i see online. basically i just want to know that i can run these properly with out having to buy crossovers if i dont need them. Thanks

With oversized speakers, some will fit with spacers, and some you can't fit without modifying the door itself. Your going to have to hook up the factory crossover and just hook it up to the tweeter.

Second, There is no factory x-over, [it is nothing more then a cap on the stock tweeter], the aftermarket speakers come with their own x-overs, [tweeter protectors].

If you got rid of the stock plastic speaker housings, what did you do to mount the JL speaker?

Right now i have some alpines mounted directly on the door. I will end up doing the same withe jl speakers, and i will also be cutting into my door panels for the tweeters. I'll take some pics once the install is done

You should be replacing the stock plastic speaker housings with custom MDF speaker housings, or at least an MDF mounting plate.
You can not get a proper mounting surface when mounting directly to the door skin, you need an absolutely flat surface, you need an airtight seal around the speaker, and for best sound from the speaker it needs to be mounted to more mass then the doors sheet metal provides.
