Wideband came in today.

The next purchase I make will be $575 in OEM parts. Then it's down to business.

Scratch that.

FJT here on Honda-tech recently opened up his own online store! It's pretty much a one-stop shop for 3-400 hp single cams! AND CHEAP AS HELL! http://fjdistributors.com/index.php

I just bought a complete gasket kit and a set of ACL bearings for $142! ACL bearings for $63?! Madness...

So this engine may be getting built alot faster than I thought.

Nothing wrong with making high hp outta motors no one wants. We are kinda the same in that aspect.

Well, I haven't posted in here in a long while, so I guess I'll update the status.

I got a AFX wideband/sensor. It's all been heat shrunk in Raychem Should be installed soon.

No real progress actually been done to the car, unfortunately. I've just been preparing stuff. My next goal:

BUILD THE DAMN ENGINE!!!

In order to do that I still need:
-$200 in parts
-get it machined
-Innovative mounts from Autoworks

That's it! Next month it should be good to go. I'm building the bottom end, getting it all assembled and ready to go, then pulling the head and OEM oil cooler off of my ZC and using it on the built block. Yeah, I'll be running 7.9:1 compression all motor for a while.

BTW: The valve cover for the new engine will be hot.

June 7th make or break!...ehh you got plenty of time. We still want to see progress. I'm tryin to finish an already LS now going Vtec swap myself. I can't handle the pressure of a build thread though.

Actually, I don't have access to a PC at the house anymore so I couldn't pull it off.

I notched the block tonight for rod clearance. I think I may have notched it a little too much, but better to much than too little I guess.

She is going to the machine shop tomorrow and getting picked up Wednesday!

I'm taking a break from learn as you go, trial and error, diy transmission rebuilding.....3 input shaft bearings and 2 ball bearings for the mainshaft killed, warped an oil plate, a ring gear swap, 4th gear grind, bad diff bearings, stripped threads, spring washers installed incorrectly, another stripped thread after the tranny is installed in the car. resolved bearing issues and 10 miles later i'm locked out of 3rd gear becuase the synchro spring broke and wedged between the sleeve and ring

tippy what are your plans to freshen up the transmission??

About time.

A little instruction would have gone a long way!

However, sometimes the only way to learn is by doing it the hard-way.

New bearings/synchro's and an OBX LSD.

I'm debating whether or not to send the gears to "RacerStev" to have them heat treated.

Well, got the block & flywheel back from the machine shop today. Took it to Magnum Machine in Chesapeake, VA. It was right next to my school and came with good recommendations. They actually finished it in ONE DAY.

Had the block hot-tanked, bored/honed, and decked.

I decided to go with .0035" of piston to wall clearance for the ole' Vitara's. The guy at the shop got a kick out of the fact that I was using Suzuki pistons in a Honda. When I pulled up to the shop he opened up the garage door so I could back my car in to unload the block. I just parked in the parking lot, and picked up the block with one arm and handed it to him. He got a kick out of that too. Damn Hondas...

So I guess I'll start putting some **** together tomorrow!

Well, that's $80. Then I had it decked. That was $40. The hot-tank was like $30. Then they did the flywheel too. That was $40 I believe.

So that's $190. Sounds about right.

I trusted my shop because they actually asked me where they wanted me to measure the piston skirt for clearance, what material the rings were made out of so they could hone it correctly, etc.
