Default increased compression

how much of a hp increase can i expect from JUST itr pistons in my gsr block? (trying to decide weather to rebuild it with stock pistons with boost or itr pistons all motor)

If everything is stock look to only see about 10WHP max. Go turbo if you want to see much more power.

well im building the head, but i can still use those same parts on the head if i boost the motor with the stock comp. ratio. so i was trying to figure out the hp increase with the itr pistons to see if i can come close to my h.p goal without boosting the motor.

Whats your HP goal. Your question is too hard to answer with limited info.

Hey tyler, get the pistons, have matt port and polish the head, and tune. you may want a programable ECU
Glad to see you on h-t!

with a stock motor with only ITR pistons installed, i doubt u will see a 10 WHP gain. thats pretty high dont u think for everything else being stock.

Dont hold me to this, but I have always heard that you can expect an 8-10 whp gain for every 1 full point gain of compression over stock ratio.

Anyone else heard of this?

I haven't heard an equation like that but it sounds about correct. For all motor setups compression levels that increased will not make you loose hp but cause gains. look at the B16B compaired to the B16a, granted the head cams etc. is different, but the pistons make a difference in a 1.6l.

One point raised in compression nets around 2% power increase (that is, with proper tuning). So going from 10.1:1 to 11.1:1 will give you 2% power increase.

guess that means im gunna rebuild it with stock comp. ratio and throw on a base jrsc, that will put me at my 250 hp mark, sorry bill

it;s proably more than 2% buti think he was talk n about a stock motor. when i install my 11:1 P30 pistons, i better see at least a 10 whp gain and even more after tuning or else............... lol
