idk how sum ppl have this happen to them, i had my lsvtec for 3 years, put it in my bros car sold it to my friend and now that he wants to build the block its taken apart and it looks perfect just alot of build up from use, if u do everything right (timming, make sure ur valve springs arent bad) then u should be good ill post pics of the block that i got at my house which ima put new rings and bearings to keep driving it, wen i putback the ls head i took off 3 years ago (1989 b18a1 block, 2000 b16a2 head)

It is a pretty common thing for people to swap out stock B20 pistons for pistons out of a vtec motor when building a B20V. This is pretty much required for anything running larger then OEM cams. It allows for better P2V clearances and also gives better compression and more power. Stock slugs CAN be run, I have seen it done (B16 and GSR cams only),but I always error on the side of safe and make my clearances safe.
Can't use any vtec pistons in a b20 block as a b20 is 84mm and all other b series motors are 81mm. This is why people opt for the rs machine itr replica pistons

Ok, I have a B20b with B16, but I have skunk 2 cams and AEM gears. I didn't want to take the engine out of the car or touch the block until I turbo cause I want to sleeve it at the same time. But from what I read here, it sounds like my pistons and valves will now hit, is that correct?

Also, Has anyone had any trouble getting lubrication to the head/cams? I have heard most b20/vtec failures at the head bolts, but a guy at local shop told me that pretty much every b20/vtec swap he sees fails in less than 10k miles due to lack of lubrication.

Thanks.

If you can read and understand enough english to bump this thread, then why are you asking this question? It's been answered more than 20 times in here?

To answer your lubrication question, read this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1676914

If you're burning up a motor in 10k, 0 driver error, and it was properly clearanced/built, "you're doing it wrong."
