Default B20 Vtec highest compression on 91 octane

Well we all know that California sucks for octane. Never the less I'm ready to swap my rather small 1.6, to the mighty 2.0 B20b. I talked to my local swap shop, and they told me that running 10.0:1 was pushing it for 91. So I'm thinking to still run after market piston's to 10.0:1 or higher. Or should I stay with the stock B20b piston's. My setup so far is CAI, Jdm Dc 4-1, 2.5 in. exhuast, CTR cams. I know if I stay stock B20b, I have to adjust my gears back to zero. Should I spend the extra money for the piston's, to take advantage of my cams? By the way is $1,700 too much for just the B20 installed. If any one knows a cheaper place in so. cal that would be great. Thanks for everone's advice.

rocket suggest high 11s for that octane, as well as Brad at RLZ. They both believe its better to run advanced timing and lower compression than retarded timing and more compression

i personally think 11:6 is high enough on 91...but it all goes down on who tunes it....and how you drive etc.....ITR's are what 11:1 stock....GSR's are 10 so u can go more then that safetly

Do you guys think that $1700 is too much, for the B20b bottom end installed. ?

$800 for the B20 block
$900 for vtec conversion/install

$900 for labor is a lot.
