Anyone ever experience this? I push the clutch pedal about half way down and I feel a slight popping or distrubance in the movement of the pedal. Definately does not feel smooth as normally. Any idea what this could be?

 

It sounds like the same problem I have... which I beleave in my case is due to a bad master/slave cylinder. The problem went away for a short while when I bleed the slave cylinder, but after a short while it returned. I think I have a leak and air is getting into the lines.

 

a lot of us have this...myself included. It's been going on for quite a while with no noticeable change. I don't drive like an old lady, and I've had no problems.

 

I had the same deal with my 97 GSR. The problem was intermittent and did not affect how the car drove, just how the clutch pedal actuation felt. Do you ever feel something simular with the brake pedal?

I wish I knew what the exact problem was or how to fix it.

I think it has something to do with the throw out bearing binding up to the input shaft. I've had this problem on every Civic and Integra I've ever owned. Putting some grease on the input shaft where the throw out bearing slides helped me a little. Felt good longer.

 

I had this feeling in my clutch right before it died @ 23k miles. I'm not saying it was related to it, but sure as hell seemed like it.

New clutch --> no popping :shrugs:

 

All stock in terms of clutch, tranny, etc.

it went away for me and then came back. I think it is gone today as I didn't notice it this morning.

 

ttt...anymore input on this? I have a poping in my clutch too. Hovered over the engine bay while i had someone press the clutch in. Sounds like its coming from the tranny. Keep in mind, i have the same noise when my car is turned off as well! Clutch was just bled abuot 1k ago, all new fluid. The noise is where the clutch engages, (high on the pedal) any ideas? Ohh, I have a act HDSS clutch kit and toda flywheel for the past 6k. so the release bearing and all that mumbo jumbo is new.

 

My beater's clutch popped at the engagement point. Over a few months, the MC started leaking badly. I rebuilt the piston mechanism in the MC and now it's fine. My guess is the popping noise was the piston not sealing properly, which caused my leak. I was very sure that the popping noise in my beater was not the clutch or slave cylinder b/c the noise definitely came from my footwell, and my beater is a mid-engine.

 

mine's popped almost since day 1. engagement is inconsistent and blah blah blah. it's still driveable. i'll drive it till the clutch dies i guess.

try greasing up the slave cylinder thing, the ball looking thing that engages that fork

 

I have the same problem. But mine only happens when I engage the clutch in first gear. Not all the time, but when it does it's during the middle part of the transition.

An audible CLICK, and I can feel it simultaneously on my left foot.

It might not be the same problem as everyone elses, because when I crawl @ ~5mph in 2nd gear while tapping the gas pedal, I can acheive the same noise.

 

Just got back from acura. Very nice mechanic listened to the noise. Well, the noise has been happening all day, i brought it there, i reprouduced the noise for him. But only around 5 times. After that, the noise went away, who cares tho, he heard it He said it might just be the release bearing getting caught on the fork, if it wasent lubed. So ya..I will dropped my tranny this weekend, ill keep everyone posted btw, he gave me 4 free cotter pins how nice!
